I know that you guys have mentioned putting a sub in your s13 spare tire well before, but has anyone done it?

The depth of the well is only around 5-5 1/2" at the deepest points. How are you supposed to fit a box in there.. even a small one? False floor? Ahh. Someone enlighten me please.

TIA,Anthony

I have done this...I have a 12" in there....

All you need to do is Make a fiber glass box by doing the following:

1) Get rid of the bracket for screwing down the tire...and clean the entire well out good.

2) Get paste wax (Johnson&Johnson) and give the entire well including a bit of the lip a good 3-4 coats.....This is important if you want the box to be re-movable

3) Now paint the wax with Fiber glass Resin ( A bit at a time) and lay down fiberglass mat as you go....Cover the entire wheel well including a bit of the lip around it. Repeat this step two times alowing it to dry inbetween.

4) Gentially pry at the fiberglass the next day and it should pop right out....Now you just need to strengthen the box...by adding either more layers of fiberglass mat...or soak Fleece in resin and use that instead as it builds thickness quickly.

5) Use MDF to cut out the top piece...Cut out the 12" circle first....and fiberglass this right to the box.....fill in all holes from the inside to make sure it is air tight.

6) next secure it to the spare wheel well with bolts, install sub, and do whatever finishing you want.

Well for my sealed box application as mentioned above it has worked quite well...my sub when in a sealed box does not require much air space.....this has worked quite well for me.

Make sure you have a cell phone and a can or two of fix a flat :)

Nice...though you ment "Drive Air"....

It would look pretty silly if you were doing burnouts with a 12 inch sub ===)
