I'm in the running for a new sub or two. I am currently using 2 12 inch pioneers. Running 575 Watts rms. I just blew one of them and honestly they don't really fit in my car. I had to remove the panel for rear window wiper to get them to fit. So with that being said. I'm thinking about switching to 10's unless you guys have some ideas. My real question was what/if you have any experience with two 10's vs one 10. I'm going to pick up some rockford fosgates but curious about which path i should go. Also if anyone has any stealthbox guides! Thanks guys. FIrst post, picked up my 300zx about a week ago with 162k miles and love it to death!

Congrats on the pick up. I've been into car audio for close to 15 years now and to be honest, I never gave 6.5 or 8" subs a chance. With the somewhat limited hatch space, an 8" woofer sounds great. If you were happy with the sound output of those Pioneer subs, I'd take a peek at the Sundown Audio SA8, Kicker L5/7, or even Alpine's 8" Type R. I have a 8" Sundown SA8 V1 in my TT and I actually went from two down to one. I have in on 750 watts in a ported box and it sounds great! The Kicker L5/7 and the Type R can be run sealed in an enclosure about the size of a shoebox.

I enjoy my bass heavy and to the point i can feel it. Are you running 750 watts rms or max?

750 RMS. PLENTY of power even while cruising on the highway windows down and the tops off. After all, the speaker is only 3-4ft from your head and in the same cabin.

I'll look into that. I'm most likely going to stick to two tens I was looking at some rockford fosgates now just contemplating the proper box..

Which model Rockford Fosgate? If it's the same models you can find at a best buy like rockford's "prime" level of equipment, I'd strongly suggest looking at wine of the subs I mentioned. I can almost guarantee what you would get from one of them would be the equivalent to those two 10s, in a box 1/4th the size.

you cant really tell what the subs are so heres a pic of them

They are kicker comp cvr's. 10in 2 ohm aluminized subs. Hit really well and fit nicely. Good subs for the price.

Here's a link with some specs if anyone is interested

Well they sell those punch subs anyway lol. It's not that they're bad, just that people are SO hung up on brands in car audio that there are tons of other products out there that have just as good, if not better performance but at a better price point. Sundown audio, Digital Designs, Skar, Lanzar, RE Audio, just to name a few.

You won't be disappointed :)

8" on the left, a kicker 12" on the right. It's a beast lol

in my personal experiences... namebrand has never disappointed me, with that said.. off brand can kick a** too! I'll look at it somewhat but I'm kind of limited to the amp i'm running currently... a 575 watt alpine mono. :dblthumb:

C4ORCE, do you still have access to your spare wheel? That would be great. There's nothing like thumping loud music, and then having to wait an hour for AAA to fix a flat. Or worse still..... having to leave/tow my blinged out ride because of a flat.

yea i still have access to my spare if i needed it. the center section between the subs lifts up. it might be a little aggravating but you could get it if you really needed it. The boxs are actually off of ebay :couch but i cant complain the quality was really good and fit was perfect. Heres a link if your interested http://www.ebay.com/itm/ZEnclosures-300 ... 45fb438f94

not an audio freak but here is my set up

4, 6" alpine speakers, two in the front and two in the back with ebay adapters to fit the speakers. 600watt amp (maybe more, forget the brand) and one 12" sub ,a custom built box. one 12 seems to be enough for me.

Nice looking set up you two. That is exactly what I wanna put together.. the only thing is the rockfords i'm after are wanting 1.4 cb ft per sub for a ported box.. I love my bass heavy and where i can feel it... will a sealed still produce in this hatch? Cause i use to be running the 12's in a kia in the trunk and moved over to my Z and they sounded 3x bettter.

If your Kia is a sedan like a Rio then the bass has to move thru the back seats from the trunk. Any time you go from a sedan to a hatchback, you will def see/hear/feel a remarkable improvement in bass.

Ported will give the deeper rumble of the low end "Miami DJ" bass. If you want the "Heavy Metal Rapid Kick Drum" to be more pronounced (you'll feel this in your chest for real) then go with the sealed.

I'm going to be doing a two 15in sealed here in the next month and it would have the same cubic ft req that a ported would need. I realize you're probably wanting info much earlier than that, but I'll be pre-measuring in the meantime. My design will be based on something that will take up the space but still be easily removable for the spare tire. MAKE SURE WHATEVER DESIGN YOU DO THAT YOU KEEP THE SPARE TIRE IN MIND! I know that sounds like a "duh!" but you'd be surprised at some of the boxes I've seen.

There is a great guy in Phoenix that makes sub enclosures. Here is the link:

He is very active on TT.net and Projectz32.com. Just thought I would throw this out there.

You can send him an email, he may do one that is ported.

Just an FYI, sealed sounds much tighter with less distortion in a hatch setup.

This ^^^

I know what you're going for soundwise, but if you increase your cu/in it'll give you the depth and tightness both. I'm going with two 15's and I've already measured for enough room for those. You're definitely gonna have the room for your 12's.

Sealed.

And you're gonna have insane room for a pair of 10's.
