The trunk is so small on the S14 and I just realized how small it was today. I was wondering if there is anyone here who has successfully fit a sub in an s14 trunk or if anyone has any ideas on how I would fit one. Even a 10in sub would be fine. Just want some low frequencies in my music.

Why do you need a sub? Just get a exhaust system and listen to the car.

I knew I hung out with you for a reason. That's right, I hardly ever have the radio on. Listen to the motor/exhaust. That's where its at.

i know several s14's with subs in the trunk. mine included. mine isnt anything big but it does the job. you may not have much trunk space left after its in there but it will fit. I just hope i never get a flat and need the spare... even with it in there im still left with some space. i wish they made stealth boxes for our cars, figures they didnt

I would, but that would mean I need a loud exhaust first. Something that is just asking for trouble where I live. Also, you guys don't listen to music when you drive? Doesn't it get kind of boring after a while?

I might just have to do that. I was thinking of getting the RE XXX 10 or 12, and that is probably the only way I can get it and the amps and other stuff to all fit. I don't really need to use the trunk. Ever since I've started driving, I have never had to use the trunk of my car. My family has 3 more vans that can do that .

What sub is that? I know its a JL because I can see the sign. What is that mounted on the side of the box? Is that the crossover? Nice absorber and I think that red thing next to it is spray on wax? Looks kind of like the one I have where you wax as you dry. LOL Also, who made that box for you or did you build it yourself?

I listen to music when I drive, but I rather be listening to the car. It's just me. A 10 would be cool. Just nothing to big or crazy.

Yea, I'm into SQ not SPL. I like my music to sound like music and not like an elephant with irritable bowel.

i fit 2 10" type r subs in my s14. the sub box has to be built as a rectangular cube to get it to fit into the s14 for it to work.

These aren't great quality pics, but they are an example of what you could do.And best thing is that there is still some trunk space in the middle, not much, but it's there. Downside is that they slide around too much if you dont mount them in there.

The whole trunk-

The left sub -

The right sub -

I'm assuming those enclosures are sealed. Am I correct? What subs are those and what amp is that? That thing is huge.

The subs and amp aren’t mine really, they were lent to me from a freind because he isn't going to be around for a couple of months and wasn't going to be needing them. But all I know about the subs are that they are Pioneers and im not sure about the amp. It's so big because it's a 4 channel amp and its 250W X 4. It's a waste since im just using 2 channels. It's not all that much, but it sounds nice. Im sure you could use anything though, iv'e had 2 other amps and another sealed box with 2 12's in it that did fit in the back. It was a ***** to get in though but we managed to force it in there.

It’s a 12' JL w0 or a w1, can't remember for sure. I’m actually going to be switching it out for a w4 shortly. So if anyone is looking for a sub this one should be for sale soon. Nothing is wrong with it at all, I'm just getting a great deal on the w4 and don’t wanna pass on it. Yes, the crossovers for the rear speakers, fuse and power wire are mounted on the side of the box. I didn’t build the box, it was built by ovations. Oh yea, the red spray bottle is McGuire’s vinyl/rubber treatment.

And yea gettin the box in the trunk was quite a pain, ended up having to take the grill off and it still didnt want to go in, can't remember how we got it in but somehow we did, i just know it took wayyyy too long.

I planned to put a 10" sub on the back step in the trunk but then found out it would not fit. So, my plan is to have a custom box built on the step and have the sub stick out off the step a little. We'll see if it fits because I don't want to have to put the subs on the floor and then not have ANY trunk left.

i orig wanted to put mine in the pass through but couldnt find a set up that would work that way, ended up putting the amps up there anyway. you would be surprized what can still fit in the trunk with a box, i can fit a suitecase infront of the sub and two on either side... but then you run into the spare tire problem still

If you've got a little money, some of those "customz" shops are able to put them in your rear seats while still retaining the seating for people. I knew a girl that had it done to her Accord. I think she liked sitting in the back. ; )

I've got a pair of nice Diamond Audio 12's I'm looking to get rid of. $200 for the pair (retail @$200 each), they have maybe 4 hours of play time on them.

With subs in the trunk I will be able to get more traction on rainy days. This week, it rained for 3 days. That is extremely rare in socal so I'm not used to it. Everytime I started after a stop at a light, my rears would skid and swerve left and right. It was kind of fun at first, but got annoying really quick. I couldn't accelerate at the rate I normally do and people would stare at me from afar (scared I might crash into them). The subs I'm planning to get are the RE XXX 10's. Probably 2 of them, one on each side to make things symmetric. That plus amps will probably weigh 200lbs. That is like 1.5 passengers stuck in the trunk. My system should last me a couple years until i'm ready to do some serious engine work. I think I might just end up turboing the KA to about 350whp. I don't know how much that will cost, but hopefully by then, I'll have enough. This way, I can burn most of the people in my area and still maintain a comfortable daily driver (I get bored easily and don't like driving very much since I used to drive an MPV ) I'll probably keep everything looking stock except maybe a modified front to fit intercooler, new paint, and brighter lights (seriously blind at night due to astigmatism). Ok thats all for now. I've decided on how to fit my subs. Now its just whether they should be ported or sealed (Most likely sealed to conserve space). I'll most likely have the amps on the pass through.

Haha, S14's and their tiny trunks...got 5 12's in a hatchback. Don't recommend it, it's hell on the seals and suspension.

Naw its ok. I have already decided which subs and which amps I am going to get. I'm a slight perfectionist and have a goal of high SQ. For the subs, I have decided to got with RE XXX subs and for Zapco for amps. I am not sure which components I am going to get, but probably one of the following: Dyanaudio, CDT, DLS, or Rainbow. I need to listen to them first before I make my purchase. Note all of the previous mentioned companies make high quality comptetition level products. The system will probably cost over $4k, but will be purchased in parts. This is what happens to people who live in Cali. Stupid Cali and its dumb laws . Until Greddy has their KA turbo kit Carb-certified, I am stuck with doing other stuff to my car besides engine enhancements. I'll probably get rims after my system. And then suspesion and brakes and hopefully by then, Greddy's kit will be ready .
