I'm going for clean sound with 1 10" woofer. I'll probably go with an Alpine Type R 10 (decent woofer and I get discounts:) in a sealed box to take up less space in the back. If you want more bass, get more woofers. 2 12s always sound nice. I personally don't like 15s because they tend to rumble too much and can't handle the tighter, punchy bass. Bigger isn't always better... I used to spank 15s with my 2 12s at competitions....
I agree 100%. I used to have 12w6's in my car until I revamped my system completely. I've now got 2 10w3's and they sound incredible. I always stuck with JL Audio because it's more of a musical sub with much more definition, they also boom if you need them to. In my old Ford Exploder I was hitting in low 150db range with a pair and an old school crossfire amp. When it comes to stereo's I live by one motto, be smart, not ghetto.
I say do it right with some good musical subs, door speakers (component/composite), solid amps and use sound dampening material throughout the entire vehicle. Be very detailed too, i even sound dampened my license plates. After doing it correctly in my car it's the best sounding ride I've ever been in, and I've been in a lot including world record holders, not cranked up of course.
