I was just wondering if anyone on NICO is running any RE audio components, and if so what as their experience been? Would you suggest it for the price?

I know that their XXX lineup of subs currently have the highest displacement of any sub out there.

For the speakers I'd recommend DLS. Search ebay for the best deals on them

They're also the most expensive and used primarily for db drags.

I would appreciate it very much.

A buddy of mine had some in his thunderbird SC at one point; but the box rattled itself loose and rolled around in his trunk, so the cone is punctured. This all happened right before I got back from my 3 year stint in Texas...

hah no...you dont use a xxx for spl. unless you want to not be loud. but yes, they are expensive and no not worth it imo.

What? The XXX series has approximately ~30% more excursion then the JL W7 series. Surface Area x Excursion = displacement. Displacement is what it's about in spl competitions.

lol. by spl are we refering to dB drag? if so, please just stop now. if you want to same some face, go to a real db drag sanctioned event and see how many xxx's you see. then see how many of them are loud and finishing in the top 3. then take a look at those that are and see what subs they are using. then post.

just because you havent seen the xxx series in competition doesnt mean that they arnt the best.

unfortunately the 15" xxx costs over $1k. noone in competition can afford this. from a pure physics stand point tge xxx series is the highest spl sub out there

holy **** you are dumb. they arent the best you stupid ****ing fan boy. im sorry you cant afford one and cant see for yourself they arent very loud. yes, i have heard they 18, one of my good friends has one(its the 05 model but a xxx all the same). my FI bl 18 sounded way better and got soooo much louder, of less power. he also has a 18" RE MT and of course the MT is made for spl so it is very loud. oh btw, he also has 6 12's (which are in right now) and 2 crossfire vr4000ds (which is 8000 watts total power). he will be here this weekend ill take a video for you to show you what a 150+(on the dash, with the new termlab, therefore a LEGAL db Drag score) on music sounds and looks like(and what over $4000 in audio equ. looks like). now if you want to talk money and db drag haha well...three of my other friends are doing over 150db on the tl. one just finished in 2nd in the world in extreme 1-2 with a score of 176dBs(check their stats here http://www.termpro.com/asp/com...age=5 ). they have over $100 000 into their vehicle. guess what subs they have? are the xxx's? lawl of course not. 2 cactus sounds 18's my friend(one of their sponsors). now my other friend has a superstreet 3-4 astro van burping around a 160. he uses 4 RE MT 18's. heres a video i took of my friend kayla doing hair tricks in the astro and my buddies expolorer with two Digital Designs 9917's. http://youtube.com/watch?v=pcbfrzax-Bkheres a video from a competition earlier this year that i took. at the end you will see the astro burping and the trooper burping as well. both had low scores because it was around 100degrees F. heat and audio dont mix.http://video.google.ca/videopl...17824i guess is should add....another friend of mine is currently running 4 12" dd 99Z's and 4 american bass 500.1's(about 4000watts each) heres what a 99z looks like...if you knew anything about dB drag, you would know one costs over 3000. so thats about 12000 in subs...and another 4000 in amps. yea. and again if you knew anything about spl you would know alan dante did a 180db's with one of these subs.

anyhow let me know if you still think the xxx is the end all of subwoofers.

I am not a fanboy in anyway.

I call it as I see/hear it.

You obviously do not know the physics behind the Sound Pressure levels that you are quoting. SPL is purely a function of Xmax x SD = VD. The greater the VD(volume displaced) the greater the spl. It is a simple FACT.

The RE XXX series has 54mm of linear one-way excursion. The closest competitor is the SoundSplinter RL-s15 with 38.5mm of one-way excursion.

VD of the XXX 15" = 43740cm^2VD of the RL-s15 = 33726cm^2

Can you show me a driver(use the 15" model) that has a higher VD then the RE XXX series? I have yet to find one.

What you have to remember is that car audio dbdrags are compromises. What I mean is that they only have a limited amount of space to work with. The reason you may not see the XXX series in competitions is that to get the maximum output of the sub it requires a larger box then a comparible sub. So, if you could theoretically get two 15" drivers that have an Xmax of ~30mm to perform to their maximum potential in the same size box as a single RE XXX 15" then obviously the two 15s would be a better choice as they would give greater output then the single XXX 15".

What I am simply saying is that the maximum output of the RE XXX 15" in a fully optimized(read properly sized) box is greater then any other single 15" driver that I have seen to date.

If you can find a single 15" driver that has a greater VD then the XXX please shoot me a link.

Jesus Christ, would the two of you drop it already? Is anyone here going to run those subs? Is the original point of the post to get opinions on firsthand quality experience with RE Audio? I didn't see "feel free to get into a pissing match about DB Drag" anywhere in here.

To the OP, I don't think anyone in here has any real firsthand knowledge other than what they have seen at a show or an quote off a tech sheet. I think you'd probably be better off digging through sounddomain for some real answers.

I've had a good bit of experience with RE audios components. They weren't to my liking.

I personally prefer Moral. If you can't afford moral go with DLS.

You mean Morel? Would that be Morel Israel or Morel USA?

sorry, heres where it went wrong..."Displacement is what it's about in spl competitions." which meany dB drag, and then..."noone in competition can afford this."

being a competitor myself i cant let him just say **** like that. anyhow, he obviously does not realize that in dB drag competions physics goes out the window. sure the xxx may look good on paper but in the real world.. its nothing special. perhaps he should actually buy these products and test them instead of just looking at the numbers. but thanks for the lesson in physics of splz

That's fine, people are wrong all the time. Just play nice, drop the profanity, and try to educate instead of throwing it in their face. That's all I'm asking for.

i guess i put too much faith in the manufactures specifications.

on paper the xxx series should be the highest split sub. Unfotunately manufacturers lie.

btw, when graphed the xxx series has the highest ouput of any sub, but thats on paper.

what type of competitions do you compete in? and what are you currently running?

if we are just reffering to output (spl as read by a db meter) in the car measured at the dash, kick, port etc.. there are many single subs that will beat the xxx in spl. on paper maybe not, but im talking real world testing in a car, proper enlosure not just some numbers found from manufacture testing. i am currently not running anything as i am going to school and i sold my equipment to buy a 180sx. but i had a fi bl 18 and a pa a2400db. i was competing in bass race and street c. i used to compete in street a with a single 12" atomic ap.

alright, i got my sub installed yesterday and so far i love it. sence this is my first sub I can't really compare it to any others but i know that on some bass lines it makes my rear view mirror just move so that it's looking like straight down.
