So everyody knows the annoying CLUNK in the subframe you get with 240s from being so old. The way to solve this is to get new bushings, polyurethane or solid. For those who dont have the time or tools to do the bushings, its a lot easyer and also cheaper to do the subframe collars aka spacers.

Now, they offer solid ones like so:

and they offer polyurethane ones

now from what i know as far as actual bushings go, the polyurethane ones are way better for street use as you hear all the differential noises and feel all the vibration, but the solid ones are more responsive and better for track use

as far as the solid collars/spacers, ive heard of plenty of people running them on their daily drivers without complaints, but ive never heard of anybody running the polyurethane ones. Do you think the solid ones would be noisy like the bushings? They do have the original (although shot) bushings in between them to cushion the vibration. However the polyurethane ones seem like the best bet if your looking for a quiet and smooth ride but want to get rid of the clunk.

i may be over thinking this, but im really picky when it comes to car parts, and i just want to make sure that if i get these polyurethane collars its not going to be too soft, and i want to make sure that the solid ones wont be too hard

im going with poly for my car simply because of the ride quality. my friend has the solid bushings on his and the combo of coilovers and the solid bushings gives a kidney shattering feeling when you hit the smallest hole or little bump in the road. Its just like everything else we upgrade on our cars-- Personal Preference

I have full solid aluminum bushing. Don't feel harsh at all. I think it was an improvement in rid equality over the stocker. Think of it this way. If you subframe is stiff and not moving it will force the suspension to work better, thus improving ride quality. I did the solid so I would never have to deal with it again.

As for the "kidney shattering" it is coilovers.

I have been driving with solid for a long time. Just go with the solid if you are taking the time to pull the old bushings and sleeves completely out. Unless you are building a luxury car. Really its not that harsh. IMO Except you definitely do get differential whine noise.
