So I had someone look at my car (95 s14)the other day and state that there was subframe damage on there. I then asked my friend who used to work at Nissan about it and he said that the place I was talking about wasnt the subframe, and the damage isnt substantial.

Here are some pics

What are these called and what is their purpose. And how major is it that they are damaged?

that damage isn't subframe; its freggin called frame frame rail...someone must not know how to jackup the car properly or placed jackstands on the rail at the wrong area for a very long time...most of us have damaged rails but doesn't effect the car as much i hope haha

dude frame rail damage is normal because most people dont jack cars up in the right place. heck mine even got a little damage from being towed on a trailer. your car isnt going to fall apart but you can get them fixed if you want.

well the way they are pulling away from the car i would be concerned with structural integrity. our cars dont have full frames like older vehicles. this is the main portion of your cars frame, get it fixed.
