Hi... first post on the board - I forgot my old password for my username. oh well.

I just bought a 93 S13 fastback. She needs some help on the rear end. the stock subframe bushing are pretty worn out - I got a lot of funny movement from the rear end when cornering/going on uneven surface. Now the deal is that if I want to replace the actual subframe bushing, it will cost an arm/leg. I have searched and there are subframe bushing inserts (e.g. Energy suspension). I was wondering if the inserts will cure my problems?

Also.Any ideas where to get doorlocks for the 240sx other than the dealership? mine carries a salvage title, and she got no door locks (outside).

thanks!

Ron

The "collars" are inexpensive and do help the subframe. The problem is that since they aren't a bushing themselves, they only modify the subframe travel. New bushings in Urethane or aluminum will truly lock down the subframe.I have collars and they are ok, but I daily drive my car over rough stuff so slightly softer was more appropriate for me.

the thing is that I am living on a budget... dropping the whole subframe will cost me something - I doubt if me and my buddy can do it ourselves...

oh well, time to save up.

and thanks for all the advice.

!!! you CAN do it yourself... if your just doing collars, all u need is a jack! u dont have to drop the subframe for the collars, only when completely replacing the bushing... the subframe collars a snap to install and u only lower the subframe enough to slip the top cups on!

its the lil blue washer lookin thing... theres the top collar with a notch in it to slide around the bolt so u only have to lower the subframe, not completely drop it... and then the bottom cup just slides in there... real easy, i did by myself and didnt take long... just make sure u torque the bolts to spec! if u need those, just post up. under $90 from SPL and one of the best things ive done for my car!

btw, welcome to NICO

I installed the aluminum bushings by myself, at college, in a parkign lot, with limited tools. Not bad if you don't have rust issues...do a search, I think I posted some sort of writeup. I could give you some helpful tips
