I have a set of 17" x 7.5 BBS ASA 7 spoke wheels that a friend gave me that he bought for his daughter's 2005 subaru wrx sti. I tried to put them on my 1998 240sx se, and the hubs on my 240 are bigger than a subaru's. They will fit with a 6mm spacer, but my question is, will this rim work on my 240? I was worried about the offset being incorrect. Does anyone know if these rims will fit or not? Any help would be appreciated.

So you're using a non hub centric spacer?

I say just put them on and as long as the offset allows it to clear everything you're good to go. What is it you're worried about not working? Post pictures!

I was going to try to use a set of spacers that I saw on ebay. My hub doesn't fit inside the center hole of the wheel, but the bolt pattern is correct. If i space them out about 1/4", the hub will clear. What kind of spacer would you recommend? I never used any spacers before. Thanks.

I believe the general rule of thumb is 5 full revolutions of thread on the lugnut is required to safely torque the wheels.

You can buy the cheapest spacers available to see if they fit, then purchase billet spacers. If 6mm doesn't allow sufficient revolutions from the lugnut, you would NEED extended lugnuts and open ended lugnuts.

In the end, you are probably better off with correctly fitting wheels...

If you don't want to get extended studs then the best way to go is the adapter style spacer. It will be wider but will have wheel studs on it so you don't have to worry about breaking yours. I have 32mm on mine.

Running FWD offset wheels on RWD cars...itll be sunk. 6mm is about the most I'd want to push the stock studs on, specially without hubcentric spacers.

Thanks for the help guys. I think before I go buying tires, I'm going to try using washers to shim one out, and try to get a measurement of the spacer I would need, and if it's more than 6mm, I might just sell them and get a new set of correct wheels.

Sounds like a good plan. I'm trying to trade my jeep for a subaru right now so I may be interested!

While you're finding what size spacer you'll need, measure the thickness of the stud (12mm) and then what the lugnut will use. The lugnut needs to "grab" at LEAST 12mm for it to torque properly. This is extremely important, you don't want to chance a wheel failure on the freeway or endanger yourself or those around you.

Thanks for the good advice. I definitely don't want my wheel passing me up on the highway, LOL. That would really suck.
