So I'm looking for Hard hitting Subs,

Shallow Mounting Depth

yet slightly light...

The only ones I know off the top of my head that I'm considering are

Pioneer Premier Shallow 12 inchRockford Fosgate P3 Shallow mount(Blapunkt... has one.. I kinda don't want to use that)

Anyone else know someone else that made a shallow hard hitting sub?

I know.. it's kinda impossible, but a shallow mount is needed because the trunk in the s14 doesn't have much more space after a bottle and battery.. and two to three amps...

and some other things I'm probably gonna store in there....

(I do have a Type X alpine sub.. so I do have a hard hitting sub.. the s14 needs just a decent sub or two.... ... it's going for sound quality)

I'm confused, you're asking for a lot of stuff and mentioning a lot of stuff.

So you're looking for a shallow mount sub, correct?http://www.edesignaudio.com/ed...d=106That's the only other one I know of besides the ones you mentioned.

Now, hard hitting and loudness depend on your enclosure, amp and amount of air your subs move. Also, why would you have 3 amps, yet only use one slim mount sub? You might as well just find a multi-channel amp (5 or 6 chan.) and use that. That will help free up space and save you money.

Anyway, you already have a nice sub (the typeX), why not use it in a custom enclosure to help alliviate wasted space?

actually.. three amps become cheaper... bleh... than one Big honking amp... and one over heats... easier to replace...

Well I want the sub to hit decently hard... yeah.. the Type X sits inside the wheel well and is about 6-8 inches away from the trunk lid... and it's the smallest box I got....

so shallow mount sub!

JL should be shipping a slim woofer this summer. They showed one at CES.

Multi-channel amps really aren't that big when comparing them to 3 amps together. Amps over heating? Are you competing in SPL contests or are you wrapping your amps in blankets? Over years of use/abuse I never had my amp (old MTX 2300x) overheat even while it was under a blanket to help hide it.

Can't argue with that logic [/sarcasm] build another box for the sub so that it's positioned differently, unless you're dead set on spending even more money on an under performing sub and enclosure.
