When should these be replaced for p/m? Is this terribly difficult to do? I see that Joe sells a kit for this.I should probably change the bypass hoses also. For all the above - can these hoses be sourced in silicone? While pricey, I understand they tolerate the heat much better.

Some are form fitted. KS and harness should be done also to prevent redoing it sooner than necessary in the future.

Joe's kit is really just a starter.

PM is 60K- 100K or 8 years - 10 years, usually.

Layla's were still fine at 245,000 miles and 12 years old. One fuel line was starting to seep, and I had planned on doing the hoses this spring with knock sensors, but I sold her a few weeks ago.

Lola's are nice and soft at 127,000 miles and 11.5 years old. Byron at T3 didn't replace any, when he did the KS last summer. Of course, the previous owner had the plenum off 2 times replacing injectors.

Of course Alabama weather is not as harsh as say, Arizona or New York.

I would stick with OEM, and they should last another 10 years or so.

In ATL, I've replaced my plenum hoses at 6 years [80k] and 200k and 295k.

Maxnix, if Joe's kit is just a STARTER, what else is needed?

Heater hoses, fuel lines, vacuum hoses, radiator hoses including sacrifical anode.

Depends on age and condition, but best to have them on hand unless you have ready access to them.

Hopefully others will chime in. There is a post listing every hose.

you guys are gonna love me.....

HEre is a current listings of the most extensive plenum hose kit I could come up with, WITH all of Joes current prices, as of a month ago......

Go into the 1st book to see the individual part numbers, then the second book to see the prices.

Just a suggestion - you should have a one-line description for each one in your spreadsheet so that people can pick & choose the ones they need.

Mine were nice at 80k last fall, but I replaced them all anyway since I already had the plenum off.

Of course I had to do two more coolant drains to do the radiator and pump, but I didn't know it at the time.

How many miles ? 187K ? Yup.

It's very tedious, and you have to get your hands into some tight places. The knock sensors really should be done at this time, just like the fuel hoses.

I would take all the hoses to a rice shop and try to match things from their stock for silicone, somebody tried it here but don't remember how it went.Search.

Might need an IAC gasket too.

PS: it would be a good time to flip the plenum over and clean it out real good with some Purple Power, and clean out the EGR passages too.

Excellent work on the spreadsheet - much appreciated.

Just bought 2 knock sensors, belts, 2 O2 sensors, TB cleaner and plenum gaskets. Doing some investigation on the silicone hoses.

What's the oven cleaner used on (besides ovens?)
