I just bought a used Infinity Basslink and was wondering in what direction I should it be facing. If you don't know much about it, it has a powered 10" woofer on one side and a passive 10" on the other side facing opposite. I've seen them pointed all sorts of ways. Does it make much of a difference? The manual for the bazooka bass tube I used to have, said to have the tube facing the rear about 2-3" from the trunk/cargo area lid.

I know very little about audio, but read somewhere that woofer can be placed and directed more freely than the other speakers because of its lower frequency. Similar to MW radio which can travel around obstacles, whereas microwave travels pretty much straight along the line of sight.

By the way, my RX300 woofer is under the front passenger seat, facing upwards.

in an SUV, id go with straight up to the roof (which isnt possible with your basstube unless you akwardly mount it i think, dont know how it looks) but it make it face the rear, you will get the most bass out of it, because it bounces off your trunk then all the way back thru the car.

To get the most out subs in a conventional enclosure in an SUV you want them to be facing away from you reflecting off of the tailgate's window. This will give you the most resonance throughout the vehicle. I'm not quite sure what to do with a tube. I don't really understand what a "passive" sub is can you explain?

Ok let's be clear, we're not talking about a bass tube... that's what I used to have. We're talking about an infinity basslink.

On the opposite side of what you see, there is another 10" woofer that is not powered. It is a passive radiator. It is moved by the powered woofer's movement.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/P...aker)

hmm so pretty much a sub, and then it just moves something on the side, btw link doesnt work.

so i think just go with faceing it to the rear. least space taken, and probably best quality, and so it hits good.

Face it towards the back for sure. I've heard that those powered setups sound great for what they are. My buddy was thinking about putting one of those in his Shelby GT500. It was either that or a JL stealthbox which go for over $500 and you still need an amp.

Let us know how it sounds.

@ miamiLink is fixed. Have a read.

Actually, the sub is wider than it is deep, so having it face left/right would take up less cargo space.

@ billyYeah, all the reviews I have read for this have been great. I will definitely let you all know how it sounds. I'm not looking to be drowned in bass. I just want to fill out the sound spectrum and have a decent kick. It seems this sub will do just that.

So face it rearward. Does it really matter how far from the back? Like up against the tailgate or backing up to the back seat?

put it up against the seat, keeps it out of the way, and thats how i would normally put any box up against the back seats anyway in my pathfinder.

also adding to its not in the middle of everything if you pull it up, but hiding wiring is easier then

Just received and installed it today. It sounds great! I'm very satisfied with my purchase. I have both the gain and bass boost at about two 0'clock (on 7-5 0'clock dials), with the high pass filter on my 4ch amp engaged on the rear speakers, and it sounds nice! I listened to how it sounded both with the sub facing the rear, and with it facing the side. Facing the rear, it had more thump but it sounded sorta muddy. Facing the side, it sounded cleaner, so that's where I put it. Plus I already had holes drilled from where my tube used to be, so I just used those when mounting. I'll get some pics up later. My card reader is being temperamental.

Alright, finally got the pics off the card. I'm putting some other pics up to show what I've done to my Q lately instead of making a new thread or posting in the pics sticky.

First, on topic:

Note: the amp is a 4ch for the door speakers.

I installed LEDs in the dome lights. Sorry for the blurry shots.

I installed tail light guards. Next up, brush guard!
