Anyone try fitting a custon box into the cargo organizer? Would look clean I think.

This is taken from the Auto-Tech Interiors/ ATI Project CUBE thread

That would be pretty simple to build actually. Mdf and fiberglass mat should do the job fine after a mold is made.

If the idea of this is to save space, it wouldn't work too well just by looking at that pic. You either have to put stuff on top of the sub damaging it or not be able to use the whole hatch. It would work great if it's recessed and covered so you can put something on top of it.

I am going to have to play with getting the right airspace in the container. I will probably have to do a fiberglass mold to get all of the available room that i need. Kitty hair was laid up tonight and more to follow tomorrow night as well, followed by the amp rack in the other side.

Pics of the top will be posted shortly...... :) Here they are!! The top will be carpeted so no need for bondo. I will after a lot of thought have to make a mold of the container and use some MDF along with fiberglass for durability. Wish me luck!!!

I am just looking for a clean install to be honest. Besides i will still have the right side to fold down if i need to use it :)

Oh I'm definitely interested in seeing how this turns out. It's a good idea. Where's the amp going?

Amp and EQ will be going in the right side of the container. I got a bit of glass work done tonight and will be getting some undercoating in the box side sprayed on tonight as well. This is going to be great me thinks!!! More pics to follow soonish :)

Bad news on using MDF along with fiberglass :(. After measuring there will not be enough airspace with using wood with glass. I am in the process of doing the biggest damn mold i have EVER made. This is going to take some hard craft and a great bit of chop mat and fiberglass to get it done. I have two sides of the mold glassed and 2 more to go before i pop it out. This is going to be great if it turns out well and sounds halfway decent in the end. I will post more pics tomorrow as i get the chance :)

I am finishing up the box today and will be posting pics in a bit. man is thing heavy!!! LOL :) I should be really close on the airspace too i hope. Nothing a bit of poly fill wont fix hahahah. Here are the pics! I will have to say that i finished this quicker than i thought i would. I still have the amp rack and EQ rack to design/build and the like ;) First pic is of the mold being foiled and taped up. 2nd pic is the finished box, and the 3rd pic is the box carpeted and fitted in the cargo organizer :)

Looks great, is that for a 10 or a 12? how much depth do you have with that box? airspace does seem tight in it

It is for a 12. In the end i came up a bit short on the airspace, but it should be fine with some poly fill in the box i hope ;)

Get the cargo organizer and lets see what we can do :) I have made a cosmetic trim ring tonight to help me with looks and airspace. Designing the amp rack EQ as well. More pics to follow soonish :)
