Unfortunately there still aren't that many M37/M56 owners active on the site and performance parts are few for those of us that want to do some work to our newer models. It would be nice to have a separate forum but it would probably be a ghost town. :frown:
You have hit the nail on the head as to why we have not done this ... yet.

This request crops up periodically, and I do think about it ... but not for very long after I check the post quantities that are M37/M56 specific.

The posts will grow once the forum exists. I lurk only because it feels pointless.

I wish it were just a question of increased moderation effort needing some assistance. But, It isn't.

it is more that much of the specific car-specific sub-forums might be mostly empty because there wouldn't be enough NICO members posting in it to keep it going.

Plus, and this is my other usual good (or so I feel! :)) counter argument: since our model cars are fairly similar - with sharing of many mechanical (not body) parts, but admittedly not all - it is nice to see what might be posted by our entire family of M models rather then separating them out into forums that require more effort to go through.

I try to gauge this request every 2 to 4 months and try to get a feel for whether a split makes sense. And, I have also, in the past, taken a pulse from other moderators to ask them to come by and check too. Although we generally tend to respect "main forum" moderator decisions for how they run a particular forum, I will get honest input when I ask for it. And, I am not the only moderator of this forum, by the way - I appreciate the help from some of the other moderators who come by and post here! :)

So, essentially, please don't consider this post from me as a "we will never do it", but more as a "we will do it when it makes sense". So far ... not yet.

I completely understand your argument. However, the major components that vary between the models are significant. Same suspension? No. Same engine? No. Same body? No. Same exhaust? No. Same intakes? No.

These are major components that people come to the forums to do research on. It's extremely difficult to weed through the M35 and M45 posts when looking for something specific to the M37/M56. It's so bad that (as mentioned before) several of us have chosen to use other sites. ( which is why there aren't a ton of Y51 platform posts.

I think you might be surprised if you created a Y51 subforum. Give it 6 months and I guarantee you will see more traffic that some of your other model-specific subforums.

I dont see a problem with it existing like any other model. Go take a look at your altima forum. Its broken down into all 5 generations regardless of how similar they are. And yet it is among the most active forums on your site.

I agree - a separate area would be useful. Every model and each time a new generation is released, there should be a new forum section to support it. something like the Clublexus forums http://www.clublexus.com/forums/ would be nice.

I second the motion for another sub forum. I do not agree with separating out the M37 from the M56, however as they are nearly identical otherwise. The M37/M56/Q70 are different enough from the M35/M45 that they deserve their own forum. I could be entirely wrong, however I do not believe that the M35 and M37 share many of the same components. I would venture to guess they do not share nearly 90%+ of equipment. Exterior, interior, drive-train, engine, transmission, electronics -- nothing is even remotely the same. That's not knocking the M35, just stating a fact. I'd be amiss to think that what an M35 owner does to their vehicle I could do to mine, and therefore believe the combination to actually be misleading and dangerous.

I also don't think the forum should wait until their are enough users to spin off a new thread. I agree with M37owner that when reasonable each model generation should get it's own sub forum from the start. Frankly, I was hesitant to join seeing hundreds of posts for M35/M45 models. It wasn't until I saw a few others posting about their M37's that I decided to join the forum and discussions. By having a dedicated forum, Nicoclub would generate interest in search results (Google for example) as a place where owners can discuss within a common community. It only takes a few to start a community and others searching will join in without becoming overwhelmed.

I think my frustration here is two-fold...

One, it's not a matter of simply "wanting" something to happen - as I (and Z) explained earlier, we still need someone to step up and manage the additional forum. To date, no one has PM'ed me offering to do so.

Two, I spend a good chunk of my week neck-deep in Google Analytics, our AuthorityLabs data, and poring over several other rank tracking utilities... I've been doing this since 2002, so it's a little aggravating when someone assumes "if you do X, Y will happen."

As we said before, we haven't ruled it out - but splitting out an additional forum isn't just a matter of pushing a button and "boink" - it happens.

I was kinda hoping someone would want it bad enough to actually PM me to discuss taking the helm of an M37/M56 forum.

Maybe you guys should blow up TMK's mailbox and encourage him to 'Put up or shut up.' ;) :poke:

BTW, nothing that ClubLexus does applies here. They're a much smaller forum and they're corporately-owned.

FYI, this topic is being discussed with staff... no promises, but you guys HAVE been heard. :)

p.s. Having some additional M37/M56 posters wouldn't hurt the cause... *hint* :poke:

I am a newb...but I do have a M37. I am not someone who posts a lot on forums, but I do read threads daily. And am more then happy to post when I have an answer or a serious question that can't be answered via 'search' or 'google'

I'll cosign. I have a 37x. It would be nice to have a separate sub forum.

Been browsing these forums for a few years and I'd have to agree that it would be much more helpful to add an M37/M56 sub-forum. I believe if a sub-forum gets created it would encourage a lot of us lurkers to start posting more often!

I would be willing to volunteer to be a moderator but not sure how much time that requires!

FWIW, I just joined today and will soon be the proud owner of a 2011 M37x. I have been lurking for a couple of months but I finally pulled the trigger today. I would definitely like a dedicated M37/M56 subforum.

Alright guys you asked for it and now we have it. Why is everyone so quiet? No projects or mods going on? Lets get some discussions going. We need more how-to threads for the M37.

I am happy about the split. The M37x I ordered from Manheim came in with lots of undisclosed damage and a HORRIBLE smoke smell. Previous owner was a big time chain smoker. I am back on the hunt for my Moonlight White M37x with Graphite interior and Deluxe Touring Package. Can anyone confirm this configuration exists? I can build it this way on Infinitiusa.com on a new 2013 but not sure if it was offered in 2011. Most dark interior I've seen with Deluxe Touring are Java.

I think it is good to come in here and have a sub-forum. I think it should be like the Maxima forum where each generation has its own thread. It's easier to find things. Everyone keeps saying use search but let's be honest--we all sometimes just want the answers now and don't want to search for them.
