Is it me or are most midsize cars emulating the 03-04 M45. check the side profile of the 09 Malibu, Lincoln, Mercedes E class, Volvo s80. Especially black ones.3 people in the last month ask me if my 04 M45 was an 09

The car was ahead of its time. Look at the 300, and the charger. Ever since I debadged the car I get asked all the time what the car is. Even at the dealer. A customer getting in his 08 thought mine was the new 09.

Maybe because there aren't that many 03-04 M45s around. Here in bay area, I hardly see any 06-08 Ms let alone the older Ms. The uniqueness is one reason why I went for an M.

Among the same reasons here.

Back in Sep of 2003 (which is when I bought mine ... can't believe it has been over 5 years already!), it was a total no-brainer! My wife and I had gone in to get a G35 and we ended up with the M45 instead.

I always thought the older M45 looked like a Japanese muscle car, and with the style of the new Camaro and various Chrysler cars (Challenger et al.) all seeming to go in this "modern" muscle direction, it definitely shows just how ahead of the time the M45 really was. It just is the visual definition of refinement. Also being such a rare car helps, it's very unique all on it's own.
