Ok guys, I picked up my 240 from a dealership in November. Engine was clean, sounded fine, passed a CLT with flying colors. However, I noticed a certain smell driving it home from the dealership in L.A. I thought it was car cleaner at first, but became more prominent over the month. Well, 2 days ago, it REALLY started smoking (I posted that in an earlier post) and took it to a shop to check it out. Turns out the transmission is leaking from 3 different spots and they need to pull it out to seal it. :nopity Now, considering I've had the car for 3 months, and I got it from a dealership, is there ANYTHING I can do to help the dealership :bash to pay for it, or am I SOL? :slap Thanks for the help guys!

This may sound a little crazy, but did you by chance buy a warranty with it, jk!

No, but seriously, if you had a warranty with it you will be fine, but if not you are pretty SOL. Also what year is it, that will make a big deal too, if its too old, you are def. SOL, but if its newer, you may have a "trickle" of hope.

Goodluck and keep us informed.

Did you buy an extended warranty from a dealer or was it a certified car with quality guarantee?? If not then there is probably nothing you can do through the dealership. They will just claim you broke it.

Just to be sure check your paper work that went with your sale, maybe there is something. Sorry...

No, I didn't get the warranty, considering the dealership was in L.A. and I live 4 hours north... it's a 93 so I think I am SOL. :spank Alright, thanks for the advice anyways, it was worth a shot :D I'm gonna pluck down that money and hopefully nothing else will go wrong

since were on topic of trannies, my clutch is bad...again.i just had a new one put in yesterday. i have to drop it off at the shop tomorrow again so they can fix it, again.

first off, its not my fault, the clutch was slipping a few days before i got my license back (bought the car during my suspension) . i got new a clutch master and slave cylinder put in, and a whole clutch kit. the clutch was put in yesterday, and ive noticed it grinds when i start the car and when i push it in all the way AND the shifter wont go in gear. if i let it out a little, it will go in. now the clutch is slipping again. guess what it is. a couple mechanics told me its probably the throw out bearing (isnt that included in the kit?) . well whatever it is, theyre gonna have to put in a brand new clutch (we said fix what the problem is , so they fixed the clutch) along with whatever it is thats causing my clutch to burn. the clutch will be free because its not my fault they didnt fix the whole problem, causing another.

all in all, i get a free clutch, another wasted day, and get to pay for the rest of the problem.yay!

You think you had it bad? My friend bought an 88 Supra Turbo from a used car dealership......the first day he drove it, the engine caught on fire. Having the car for less than 2 weeks, he sued the dealership. He got shiet from it except a long chat with the judge. But that give me the opportunity to buy his supra for only $50.

can a damaged transmission cause you to go through clutches like that? I had a friend who claimed he put 4 clutches in his integra in like 5 months only to find out a problem w/ the transmission was killing them. u think there is any truth in that? He is a honda boy, after all :-P
