how many of you guys drive your ka-t's daily is it a safe combo for daily driving i live about 30 miles from school and most of it is stop and go i really want to build one but its my only car. should i buy another engine just in case? if i decide to do it will a well tuned ka-t hold up in the long term to daily driving in traffic? should i save and buy an s13 coupe for a daily then build the s14? any suggestions its a 96 240 sx ka24de less then 50000 on newly rebuilt ka

50k miles is nothin' for a KA. Mine has 175k miles, and has been running 8-10psi daily for the last 25k miles. However, it is ready to be refreshed, as it's smokin' these days, but not constantly.

You could nab a spare somewhere to have handy, just in case things go south. They can be had for $300 or less pretty consistently.

i know i could get a used ka for prob 300 like he said and i might do that just in case, thats the best option . i dont have astronomical hp goals just like 225whp i know from searching here and on ka-t.org this is possible with like 8-10 psi but is it safe to run everyday on stock internals.im gonna be running a stock rb20 t3 with an s14 smic and z32 or q45 maf. havent decided on manifold or engine managment yet and a good bottom mount mani is hard to find for some reason.ill be upgrading injectors to sr 370cc ,walbro or z32 fuel pump, etc. also.i was thinking of putting in an oil cooler just cause ive got one already. and i got a blitz bov from my buddy but dont even know if i can use it though,he had it on his rx7 with an upgraded turbo and what not.

Gasp! u have a BMW coolies i had one...=( but now im trying on getting a Q45!!okay i know that has notin to do with this so...

I would get a daily driver for now and keep ur sexy machine at home and work on it that way when its fixed up it be in top shape and fresh engine and then a nice paintjob n sum cool JDm rims and when u done give ur daily driver a treat and buy it a new engine yeah!! like an SR in a year its gunna be like 200-500$ less than now for the s13 ddriver just lower it and add a coldair for the MPG and thats it go and practice drifting with it if u get a Vlsd one and that way on ur S14 u be like ohhh yeah drift? sure no prob and u have better skills and ur chances of crashing of loosing control will be slim! Huuurrah! ^o^

225whp is nothing for a stock internal KA-T. i drove around with 230-240whp for 2 years daily driven in nyc and i've been driving my 300whp setup for a year now in the same situation and the cars been the track, and has probrably had 25 dyno pulls. the engine's been boosted for 52K miles now. so basically my engine has seen more miles boosted then your rebuilt engine has
