I have my setup all installed , but after a few testing a few things, we(klattr1 and I) think it might be the mafs. He sold his so i cant use his to see if its working right or not. If I roll out of the garage, it goes ok in reverse. When I put it in reverse, the car wants to acts like its fine and like it wants to go. WHen going forward , it acts like im not giving it any gas at all when in fact im flooring it, then all of a sudden, it hits hard for a second like it finally sees im giving it gas, then falls flat on its face and either bucks, then dies--or just dies.

We checked the injectors to make sure the connectors are good. They are hooked up good, and we thought it might be my AFC causing issues, so we unhooked it. That didnt help. SO the only thing i can come up with is a bad MAFS. I have a cobra, and just wanted to see if someone could help me out to just hook it up and then ill send it back once i see how it affects my car. It should only take me a day to find out if mine is bad. Ill send yours back the next day.Im a trustworthy guy and klattr would speak for me, and im sure alot of you trust him as well.

Thanks,

-Josh

P.S.--if anyone has a cobra maf for sale, then let me know.

-J

any chance you can check it out with a multimeter? also what kind of setup do you have? retuned ecu for the ford mafs or just trying to modify it with the safc for the stock ecu?

JWT ecu--and the voltage is showing me much with the MDM.We think its either the mafs or the distributor.

Hmm I am no expert but have you checked your TPS? It is a simple test. You check the ohms and move the throttle to see if the resistance changes. It should do it smoothly.

This thread is touching on exactly what my car is doing. It has some interesting ideas as to what could be the problem if the maf i put in doesnt fix my problem. I dont think its the temp sensor. My car was running like a champ before, but ill check it out anyway. PLus. when we'd let it warm up, it wouldnt have to be ALL the way to 180 to ahve the problem start up again. The idle would become erratic boucing from 400-900 after only less than a minute of warm up. The, when rolling out of the driveway in reverse, the car was smooth, but put it in first, and its like a damn nissan rodeo(i.e-bucking like hell), and then it would die. It seems like the only reasonable thing to assume would be the maf. My ecu doesnt cause the car to stumble now since ryan resoldered and removed my afc. Well put it back in with better soldering next time. I dont think ecu connection is the problem anymore. Not since we fixed it--i can go and move the eu all over the place, and the car wouldnt respond by stumbling or anything. Sitting at nuetral, the car will rev smooth and high. try and move, and the car starts its crap.

Sheesh--i hope this maf fixes thing.

wow, sounds like it has a problem, when you say you fixed the ecu, or ecu wiring, did any conections get switched? and are you getting good spark. If you were in oregon i could find a way to put your car on a scope for free. I had a honda do the same thing after i dropped in a jdm motor into it, turned out it was a crossed wire between the ecu and map sensor and crank sensor. Well hope you get it figured out

k

yeah the wires are good to go. When we romved the wires for the afc, we did them one at a time so we couldnt ge them messed up. The car was running perfectly before the install. And only a few things changed other than the turbo. Electricly, the maf changed, adn the ecu. The injectors were changed, but they are working. IM getting spark for sure. The dist is fine. theres no vaccum leaks im getting 20/vac at idle. Theres not much more than the maf that could be the problem. IM banking on the maf.

The amf fixed the problem of the car stalling and stuff. THANKS BRIAN!Theres only two littl thins now to get rid of. One is the car will miss pretty bad at about 5-5500. I need to regap the plugs i think. IM at about32-30 Il lhave to ask ryan what we put them at cuz i forgot. Also, the car wants to die when lifting throttle, like when slowing for a turn, or lefiting throttle to cruise down. It dies. Ive talked to two people who think it is the aiv or iacv. I didnt think we had an AIV ont he KA, that was for sr's, but im probably wrong as usual. I need to check the aicv and see if that thing is messed up.BUT--it runs like a champ when in the throttle. It boost perfectly at 10-psi with no boost controller. Makes plenty of power, and idles smooth. When cruising, the car stutters a bit when try to cruise, but i think thats the same prob with the aicv casuing the car to drop rpms when i use tiny corrections with my foot to cruise and maintian speeds.

I should have this thing perfect this weekend. Oh yeah--it runs at about11.3-4 till about 5500 then it runs at about 10.8-9Im gonna lean it out to 11.5 across and let it ride. The timing is at 14degs WOT, and that sucks for power, but its great for safety, especially on the stock block.
