Hp is only one part of the equation. Suspension means plenty, alignment, tire selection, especially the driver and his/her skills. But to answer your question about 280-320 whp is my guesstimation.

that much power and quick response? i'm guessin' it'll have to be bigger than a t28 and BB. Although i have a t3/t04b with a .48 ex and i'm told it supposed to have pretty fast response by the wonderful people at turbonetics but i've yet to actually try the turbo out and i've had it sitting in my room for over a year now!

Weight has a big factor on accelation. Less weight you have, the quicker you can be. You do not need 280-320whp to get sub-5.0 second 0-60 times.

About weight..... I don't have any interior trim except dashboard. And driver, me, only weight 120lbs (lost 30lbs in few months)

So. For 300HP... G28BB is it? HELP!

my ca beat the pants off a couple of cars it shouldnt have been able to beat. i put a hurtin' on both kids in town who own evo 8s and my friend's dad's 2001 svt cobra (RIP). i did all that with an hks intake, cat back 2.75in exhaust, 9 or 10psi on the stock turbo(i think, but it could have been overboosting like a sonofab!tch for all i know), crappily tuned ecu (dont know what its even tuned for, but ive never made as much power with it as i did with the stock ecu), apexi twin chamber bov vented to the atmosphere, unbelievably crappy air/fuel ratios (think in the range of 5-7:1), 3 quarts of oil, an open diff and some sticky as hell (at the time) falken azenis sport tires in 205/15. i beat the cobra by a carlength and i had a passenger an a full tank of gas to the 'stang's 130lb driver and only a quarter tank of gas!

the car dynoed the previous week at 150.97whp and 164lb/ft on a dynojet. about all that was done since then was me fixing a few wiring problems. the car ran about 5.5 to 60 and would go like a scalded cat when it counted.

ok, and for your gt28 question. ive got a gt28r in my car now and i had to use 2 manifold to turbo gaskets to get the compressor to clear the manifold, even with the hear shields removed. the damn thing never spools up either, i dont get on boost until 4000rpm in any gear. when it does though, watch out. its the fastest damn thing ive ever had the pleasure of driving or riding in. if you want a non-ridiculous powerband i would highly suggest the .48 trim t3/t04b as it is very well suited for the ca18. youll probably be on full boost around 3500rpm and it wont run out of steam like the t25/28 series will. theyre also cheaper than a soho whore nowadays.

thekawaii, I think you should get a S15 T28 or S14 ball-bearing T28. A 5 second 0-60 time is quite modest, I suspect you could do it with as little as 230 whp but more realistically in the range Dee mentioned. Either of the above turbos will put you in the high 200's, probably the S15 t28 would get you up to 300 whp.

Keep in mind it will likely cost over $5k to swap and get to that goal, although it could be more or less.
