Stupid Q, but I searched.

This should take a quick answer and we will all be done with it:

Whenever the engine does not start, should the check engine light come on (even if not to indicate a code) to indicate the injection system is working?

EDIT: Only edited to fix a period where there should have been a question mark.

I would have to say no because the engine check light only signals errors when the engine is already running..

At On position, engine off - always on

While cranking - everything is off (I believe this is soooo...)

Engine running - now the check light can come on.

Of course, I could be completely wrong, but I'll see in 5 minutes when I leave work, hahaha.

If the light fails to come on in KOEO does that mean a bad computer (or fault in the EFI circuit)? I used to be able to check it for codes, now the light won't light up in either the diagnostic mode or not. Shouldn't it at least light up for diagnostic mode?

What has happened was that the starter's positive wire was a little loose and grounding out. Causing the system to stop working. Just jiggling it fixed the problem.
