It's kinda funny how yours was replaced at 32k considering I started my oil consumption test at 29k meaning at 32k is when they decide if the engine needs to be replaced. lolfiveliterbeater wrote:yes.....me. well, not "me" per say, but my cars engine was replaced under warranty for excessive oil consumption. it was actually replaced twice. the first time was at 32k and it was burning about a quart of oil every 500-700 miles. the second time because the engine had piston slap from the very begining. that was just a bad motor so it was replaced again at 43k miles. right now my car has 55k on it which means there is about 12k miles on my new motor with everything running smoothly.
....just thought you should know that we drive Infiniti's and not Honda's or a Chevy. other manufacturers might find a way to deny a warranty.I've owned two Lexus's and one Infiniti; the customer service and attention given to luxury cars is slightly better than that of "regular" economy cars. just my 02 centsnicad2000 wrote: if the dealer won't replace it, or just throws in a new short block, you might be in serious trouble.
What I meant was I needa bring it back every 1000 miles for 3 times making a total of 3000 miles. My fault for not making it clear. lolnicad2000 wrote:I've never heard of a dealer wanting you to go 3000 miles for the oil consumption test, mine recommended 800-1000. If you let it go for 3000, you might lose enough oil to cause some serious damage to the engine. Then, if the dealer won't replace it, or just throws in a new short block, you might be in serious trouble. Just my two cents - good luck!
Perhaps better on average, but YMMV according to which dealer you use. I've owned two Infinitis and an Audi so I feel that I am also qualified to make this statement.fiveliterbeater wrote:

Well i had my 03 M45 in for two consumptions test because of the oil consumption and the blue smoke on start up. I was going through 2 1/2 qts every 3000 miles. Both dealerships informed me that the consumption wasn't enough to change the engine. So at that point i just left it alone because of the lack of customer service and information from the dealerships. Now the problem is getting worst and i'm passed the milage on the factory warranty for the engine. I luv my M, but is a tree was to fall on it (without me in the car) I wouldn't be to mad.nicad2000 wrote:
