Ok this is a really stupid question and I did a search and couldn't find my answer. I could've swore there was an FAQ about this but I honestly couldn't find it.

I am confused about this whole spark plug thing. What is heat range? is Irridium really better and if so is there a hp gain? Is it better to have thicker or smaller diameter spark plug wires? If you get a better burning spark plug does your fuel economy go up? You get the drift...

So basically here's my situation, I have a 95 S14 with exhaust (intake coming next) and I am looking to upgrade my fuel, air, and spark to get better performance with better fuel economy. I don't have a wideband, and I don't really have the money to get one (though it is in the plan for the near future), so I don't know if I'm running rich or lean.

Anyways, I am looking to get some irridium plugs but I don't know what heat range to get or what size wires to get. I am also looking into getting an ignition box but I don't know what to get. The whole ignition system just really has me confused. So any help would be really good. If there is a faq or a site I can go to to help me out a link would be awesome.

Fear of detination, you use colder plugs. Thicker plug wires are better. Personally I would use platinum, unless you're spraying N2O, then use a copper, because it has a larger electrode, and is harder to blow out the spark. As far as mileage, use the plugs suggeated my Nissan, and make sure they're correctly gapped. I use Bosch Platinum 4's, and everyone says that they're not good for a Nissan, but I've never had a problem with them. Denso or NGK is what most Nissan's are recommended to use.
