well i see no one else will answer this so ill do my best to answer for you. to my knowledge no, not all 240s are silvias. the S13 Silvia is the 89-94 240SX coupe, the 89-94 fastback is the 180SX (though if you look at the chaisis code its still S13) and the 95-98 240SX is the S14 Silvia. now as for the 180SX if you were to take the front end of a S13Silvia (the real on with out the flip lights) and put it on a 180SX you would have a Sil80. if im wrong please call me on this but i think that is correct.

No, it's not.

"Silvia" refers to the Japan version of the North American s13 coupe."180sx" refers to the Japan version of the North American s13 fastback.

If you're from japan and you've got a turbo, yah it's a silvia ;)

If you're from USA and you're N/A, you're a 240 :)

well where did the s come from in the chassis name? S13? The hatch and the coupe is a s13. I thought the s came from it was the chassis used on the silvias, so couldnt the 180/240 becalled a silvia due to chassis?

Iam curious :)

Correct. As is the same for the B-chassis (Sentra) and U-chassis (old altimas), L-chassis (newer altimas), blah blah blah...just a bunch of letters.

Don't be ashamed, I didn't know it either. I thought all 240s were Silvias, but now that I think about it, that makes more sense.

Well, one *could* argue that by pointing out that the 300ZX has a chassis code of "Z," thus making it not an arbitrary code. Or the fact that the Skylines code is "R," because of the GT-R.

However, I agree, more often than not, the chassis code is more or less arbitrary. Where the hell did they get RPS13 or MCS14 or BNR34 or any of that crap from?

Get240Dizzy-Is your car a Coupe or a Hatch? If it's a coupe, you *could* do a silvia conversion, it won't be a real Silvia, but close enough. If it's a hatch, just go 180SX style.

Yep, she's white (that sounds kinda racist...). I wouldn't have it any other way (as does that, no offense meant). There's some pics of her the first day I get her Here.

Okay, Tino, I think you need to get rid of the really bad Viagra joke. Sigs are meant to be simple.

Chassis - USDM designation - JDM designation

R(P)S13 - USDM 89-94 240sx hatchback - JDM 180sx(P)S13 - USDM 89-94 240sx coupe - JDM Silvia S13S14a - USDM 95-96 240sx - JDM Silvia S14aS14b - UDSM 97-98 240sx - JDM Silvia S14b

the (P)S13, S14a, and S14b were silvia's in japan (as far as chassis goes) save for the front end on the (P)S13. Thats pretty much the simplest summary there is.

Its S14 and MCS14...do they use A and B?? The MC stands for minor change...in reference to the front end.

They don't use R because its a GT-R....you don't hear of a GTS-T33 do you?? The letter before the number doesn't mean all that much....its just a letter.

Same here... the only power things in my car are steering and brakes. I'm thinking of getting a sunroof though.

And Tino, it's still an '89.
