Stupid Newb Question...please explain.

I'm good with engine codes, chassis codes, and the names of cars in Japan and in America (Nissan Altima here is a Bluebird over there) I however have noticed that you guys keep referring to kouki and zenki (sp?), what exactly is this and how can I tell the difference.

Zenki means the beginning, chuki refers to some middle, and kouki means the end. If you apply it to the cars then the '89-'90 s13 is a zenki s13. The '91-'94 s13 is the chuki s13. Kouki s13? Yes. In Japan the s13 was brought back in '96-'98 thus Kouki s13. A zenki s14 is the '95-'96 model year and kouki is '97-'98 s14. No chuki s14. THats about it. I hope it helped and not further confused. Welcom to NICO. I don't think these names are just 240sx specific either.

Thank you very much, I joined these boards and one of the topics was which taillights were better, kouki or zenki so I was stcratching my head trying to figure out the what thet they were talking about. Now I know...and knowing is half the battle.

Most people only refer to Toyotas (MR2s and Corolla specifically) and 240s like this... Its just something that caught on more with thosed particular car crowds... The words come from their direct japanese meaning though, as stated above.

the kouki s13 was specifically the 180sx, it was brought back by popular demand after the hatch body was dropped when the s13 coupe changed to the s14 coupe

the people that call the 91-94 the kouki are probably basing it specifically on the usdm 240sx, not the rest of the world

Actually, the 180sx was ALL japanese models of the 240sx hatchback. The Kouki 180sx is specifically the Type-X one which was brought back after popular demand.

Nah dude, they tune EVERYTHING over here. Youll see anything tuned up man, even minivans. If a guy has any kind of car over here, and hes into it, he will pimp it out.
