Long sad story made short... I am an aircraft mechanic, but not alot of time to work on my own car. Took it to a mechanic, he disappeared, found owner of building, he refused to give me car, called police and the building owner changed his mind. Got car back.... motor in pieces. Head removed with all parts disassembled, all bolts missing. Had head rebuilt, and re-assembled, all new grade 8 bolts, all gaskets fit except for the EGR valve gasket. The mount on the intake manifold is completely different from what autozone, oriely, carquest, etc. try to sell me. Also, all vacuum lines were removed without being marked.... I checked the routing examples on several other threads but none matched what is in my car. 1990 Nissan Stanza KA24E engine VIN jn1fu21p5lx805478 San Antonio, TX 129,000 miles

What I need- Some idea of why I can't seem to match my EGR to a gasket.Solution for my Vacuum line routing problem (Chilton no good, other resources on this forum do not match).

Welcome to NICO Quade!

Your car is fedral emission certified, so make sure when you look up vaccum hose diagrams and you are searching for parts for your car you ask for the federal componets. Also be aware I ran your VIN on nissans DCS and you still have an outstanding recall , its the corrosion campaign. When you get it running get to your nearest Nissan dealer and have it done.

Also your seatbelts have a lifetime warranty, so if you have anything wrong with them have it taken care of when you do the corrosion campaign.

OK, everyone I talked to looked at me like I was nuts when I told them that it was not the right gasket for my engine. The Nissan guy scratched his head and said "Idunno". Can I just slap this EGR valve on with a good spread of hi-temp RTV and a cheater bead? Or do I need to find a suitable material and manufacture a gasket? I still can't find a Vacuum diagram for this thing! I feel stupid and helpless, but I will not let this beat me!

do you have a digi cam so I can see exactly what gasket your talking about?

Becuase of the heat the egr is exposed to you cant use any type of liquid sealer. your need an exhuast type gasket for it.

Also there should be a vaccum diagram on your hood.
