No, he's talking about the little black plastic clips near the rear seat that holds the rear shelf thingy (I think that's the technical term) in place while you're driving. One of mine is broken too, and the rear shelf rattles around like crazy while I drive.

Unforunately, it's low on my list of things to fix, so I haven't figured out how to remove it yet. Did you try some good old fashioned prying?

i thought he's talking about the little nubbins that stick out of the hatch that the strings hang off of that hold the cover up.

one of mine was broken too, so i bought a whole new hatch for $25 and repainted it

One of mine was broken when I first got he car like 5 years ago. I took a little black screw and screwed it into the plastic. Has worked fine since and you really can't notice.

there needs to be a metal version with metal chain or something to replace this crappy rigged up **** that nissan created to lift the lid, cause i have broken them 2 times apiece and broke a cord once. But i have my 6x9's mounted on it so oh well.

I had the same problem... hell, I think everyone with an RPS has had those little hinge clips break. My fix was from good 'ol Home Depot - I bought some rubber-lined screw clamps. They look like the letter Q, with a screw hole in the flat part so you can secure them. One screw, pop the pegs from the hatch cover in place, and you're done. Total cost? $0.39

Because they've got rubber lining, there's zero rattle, and they still allow the hatch cover to pivot effortlessly.

Just my $0.02, er.... $0.39
