Stupid GTO

So I was driving home from work today and I was in the left lane and there was a fair amount of traffic. There wasn't anyone in front of me except for a white SUV in the right lane and another car in front of him.

So this maroon GTO comes up behind me real close then he decides he wants to get in front of me wanting to show off I suppose and this is right before we're about to hit a red light that is probably no more than 1/8 of a mile away, maybe a little bit less actually. I was doing about 60mph in a 55. So as he comes zooming by me, I speed up just a little to make it harder on him, he then jumps in front of me, cuts me off and while this is happening the white SUV is changing into the left lane we're in, so dumbass GTO slams on his breaks and I slam on mine.

I wasn't near as much in danger as he was since I was probably going 65-70mph while he was easily doing 80+ and by the time he hit the breaks, he nearly hit the SUV. Then at the light, the guy in the SUV is yelling out his window at GTO as he's in the left turn lane and GTO in front of me, light turns green and GTO floors it and speeds off, then cuts a person in the right lane off in order to get to his exit which was literally 100 feet away from us, lol.

So I know I can't beat a GTO, but this guy just irritated me a bit.

Seriously only 400Hp on the 6.0L GTO. When I get my A/C back from SFR it's going to be pushing 400HP and a bit more.

Hmm, I didn't realize there was a lower end version. I'm unsure what kind he was driving. Those things weight like 3,800 pounds though I think.

ya the GTO is hella heavy so its not the fastest car but its a decent amount quicker then a stock altima coupe.

Well, the 400hp variety should be able to beat a heavily modded a/c as well I'd imagine. At least it seemed that way to me.

I feel like they had the car concept already and just decided to name it the GTO to attract buyers. Because in my opinion it looks nothing like the older GTO's. Atleast with the camaro and challanger, they look like throwbacks using older exterior styles from previous models.

How is it showing off by making it a little more difficult for him to pass? That was by no means trying to show off. I simply wanted to make it a little difficult for him to pass. To me, that doesn't constitute showing off. If I was truly attempting to, I would have revved like mad while behind him at the red light flashing my lights and such and followed him, but I didn't.

Also, as for the street I was on, you weren't there so it's difficult for you to make the assessment on what could and couldn't have happened. I made a judgment to speed up to a point in which I knew I still had plenty of room to slow down, he was the one that cut it far closer in that regard.

i know exactly what you did... i do it all the time. sometimes i just let them pass, but if i do deside to "make it harder" for them i am aware of the consequences

I owned a 2004 (5.7) GTO for 3 years and a 3.5 Altima coupe since they first came out and "a little faster" is way off. With just a tune my A4 (automatic) pulled 12.9~103 mph at the track and the top end was crazy! With $2K in mods the 5.7 LS1 engine pulled 450 rwhp and 560 on the happy gas (lets see a VQ do that without blowing up) As far as built quality the GTO blows nissan away since it's built by holden (AU) and not by US auto workers! While I like my altima the GTO is a sports coupe!

Well, that's your opinion, that you think we think the same. If everyone thought the same then the world would be pretty mundane I'd imagine, or better or worse, very subjective to say the least. As I said before, I made a judgment that the "consequences" as you call them would be non existent for me considering my surroundings. It was my judgment call, not yours.

stupid gto, lol i bet he just felt embarrassed and wanted to dart off the road after that happened. when you make one idiot move as a driver, it usually leads to another, hence him speeding off to the nearest exit with reckless abandon. you just have to LOL at these folks sometimes and wait for them to end up face down in a ditch.

HAHAHA... Just got off the phone with Tim about 30 minutes ago. They got the final piece they were waiting for from the dealer since that other company kept giving him the runaround. He pretty much promised it to before the end of this month. SIHT has been happening to all his mechanics dude. The one who's been working on my car this whole time broke his ankle. Another got into a headon collision with a drunk lady that fell asleep and crossed into this lane . He also was involved in a rollover coming to LA with his brother in a Tundra ( rolled 3 times ) it was raining hard about a week ago. And another fell 15-20 feet on his back from his roof while repairing it. Tim is an honest bussiness owner like I am so I understand how it is. I'm a very patient person .
