okay so I got a 92 hatch a couple weeks ago and have been doing work since day one. Now after installing coilovers, getting the dif welded, and other small things like that it has came down to my stupid dash lights not working. I checked the fuses but nothing they are all good. I took the dimmer switch out of my boyfriends 240 but still nothing. Any idea what it could be? Sorry im new to the forms and just joined for this reason of help, so thanks guys!

Is your audio aftermarket? It's pretty common that circuit got shorted and burn the TCU unit. It's a small white box next to fuse box.I have a spare, so let me know if you want to swap it out and see.

I think this thread should be moved to 240 gen, so she can get more answers.

actually the car came with no radio the center is just opened with some dif color wires... clipped the end so they dont touch but that was my next step of learning and looking at.

*we realized the guy was pretty dumb who had it before me because my car also had a s14 exaust and i had to trade my friend just so it would not scrape the ground with the coilovers, i need to get a stock manifold for it to hold up hirer as well because the other one is not right.

but im switching this topic to the other folder. Thanks so much. and keep replying here as well.

That was me in the other forum. If someone messed with radio, there's a good chance TCU went bad.

Timing control unit, its in the driver's side kickpanel (footwell), below and to the left of the Fuse area.

Had my Vert's TCU go out while doing radio stuff and the lights didn't work. Swapped it out and everything went back to normal.

1 thread on a topic is plenty.

Please don't make multiple threads of the same topic in the future.

Thanks

Pull the cluster and change the bulbs if you have'nt tried that already. It's pretty easy to do. I'm pretty sure there is a write up on how to do it.TCU write up:http://www.nicoclub.com/articles.php?id=158162

Would first call the dealership to see what it would cost there, but probably too high. Next would be local junkyards and then looking on criagslist/ebay/forum classifieds.

Best bet is to look for someone who is parting out a wrecked car. Used from a junkyard or person shouldn't be more than $20 or so.

I'm willing to bet, when you put on the coilovers. You slammed the car. Most likely, you burned thru a wire or two on your harness. It runs over the drivers side wheel, and should be under the fender liner. If you dont have a liner, check your harness there. Good luck

i had the same problem with the lights except my running lights were out also...it turned out that some wires had grounded out where the radio used to be.

yeah definitely check that harness that is under your driver front wheel well.. after slamming it you should relocate it. take off that fender and just pull the harness so it sits on the side of the frame instead of the bottom then zip ties wooo
