I have ordered the control arm bushings from 4X4parts.com and was wondering what the other rubber mount is and if it needs to be replaced as well.

Thanks for the help.

My question is why are you replacing the control arm bushing, have you examined it and it is worn, likely the other may be, but during the examination could you not determine ? In any case when you pull the component you will see and it may be wise to have all parts on hand. What is the mileage of this car?

The position of the rubber may be protected!

I have 168k on the car. The front end knocks when going over mild bumps and the steering wheel shimmys at highway speeds. I have had the tires balanced and an alignment that didn't help. I have also installed new struts .

With new struts are you still shimmying? Were the strut top bearings cleaned or replaced? Were the springs replaced or re used, was the shocks a greater resistance than normal and were both changed?

What are the brakes like? Have you done work and took wheel assemblies off without pre-loading when re-installed?

Sorry more questions than answers!

I have new shocks, new strut bearings, alignment, wheel bearings, ball joints good and I get shimmy at speeds above 50mph then kinda goes away or I should say it lessens around 70. I have checked out everything and the only thing I can think is maybe it's the tires or now after reading the post possibly these lower control arm bushings are to blame. I have no movement when grabing tire up down and left right. 156,000 miles

When i replaced the struts I replaced everything. It's all new. I have the death sway from the rear bushings so i know it's time to replace them, the front must be as bad. But does anyone know what these other bushings are called?

Start over with the tires. Bearing in wheels. Axles and drive train along with prop shafts. Bake assemblies, dragging, run out. The transmission and transfer. Eliminate the simple things then go to the next.

Tires, wheels and brakes can act as a single entity and cause all kinds of weird anomalies.
