Im replacing all my rotors and pads and I took apart the fronts and noticed that one of the inner shims is missing. I called nissan and it costs 60 bucks to buy a kit and I want to know, is it ok if I just dont have one? I bought hawk brake pads and they had the shims already installed but do I need the inner shim? I replaced the fronts before and didnt bother to get another inner shim and it didnt seem to cause any problems, but I didnt care then because my brakes were old.

also, the rear sliders, is there a left and a right? because I am an idiot and got them mixed up, I bolted them back on and they fit but Im worried, I was thinking that it might not matter since the front sliders are labeled left and right and rears arent so they are interchangeable?

uh no. 60 is mui high. order them from courtesy for like 20-30 bucks for the front. You should have the inner shim, it's probably there for a good reason.

Shims are only there to reduce brake noise. I just use some disc brake quiet on the back of my pads. I've tossed all my shims. It works fine without them and the disc brake quiet works great at getting rid of the brake noise. They make it in a spray on version now as well which is much better than the paste version.

lol, i was talking to several mechanics, and they said there's no use for it.

but for you people who think everything is needed that comes with the car (lol cold start is not needed in cali), then keep it and spend the money.

what kind of pads are you using? my Hawk HPS came w/ shims on the pads... if you're ogingto spend $20 more to get shims, jsut go ahead and buy pads that come w/ shims.
