stupid A/C question

A female friend told me I should switch off the A/C before shutting the car off. She said her dad taught her this and she couldnt believe I (being a car guy) had never heard of this.

I asked her what tragic event was supposed occur if I failed to follow this procedure and she had no clue why youre supposed to do this.

Have you guys ever heard this before??

Yes actually, this helps prevent the compressor from locking up due to condensation that collects. Its smart to do this about 1-2min before you shut off the car. also let the fan run when you have turned the AC off.

a/c is stupid you dont need it just take it out just saying that cuz thats what i had to do with my swap. i've never heard of that though

I hardly ever use A/C. I remembered this last week when it was 90+ and I finally rolled up the windows and turned on the A/C.

I guess turning off the A/C ahead of time is a good habit to get into...
