the problem is kinda hard to describe , but ill give it a try. i just bought a 92 240 and at night none of the lights on the a/c controls will come on except the 2 green lights on the on/off and hot/cold switches. also it will only blow air out of the defrost. no matter what button is pushed. so, i took the controls out of my 93 coupe and swapped them out. it was a pain in the @ss. and i still have the same problem except now the lights behind it show up and the same green lights, but it will still only blow air out of the defrost. and none of the other green indicator lights will work. i have no idea what to try, can anybody help me??

With the engine off, and key on ACC, try changing vent modes. You should be able to hear the mode door motor operating. In my '92 it's quite loud. The door motor is to the right, under the D/S dash IIRC. You should be able to see the motor turning also.

::edit:: if you hear the motor moving, it's still possible(unlikely) that the linkage has slipped off, which won't move the vent door/flap ::edit::

make shure all your harnesses are plugged into the hvac controlls, since you swapped your controllls you have eliminated that as a problem, if everything is plugged in id go to a junk yard and snag one.

the light bulbs are in the top of the unit in screw type assemblies, its common for them it go out there dealer only bulbs and are quite expensive 11$ I think but there worth it some say they have taken the assembly to radio shack and got just the bulb for it.

could something like this be the cause of the air not blowing cold?I have gone to several a/c places and they say everything is cool but the air is still not cold. one dude said that this is common among 240's.anyone have and insight to this type of problem...i also have the light problem where only the l2 green lights come on. i was wndering if this could be the result of a damaged harness, and where i could get a new harness and for how much.

ps sorry for stealing the post..... its kinda similar.

hey thanks for the help, I will definately change the bulbs out. But the main problem I have is that the air isnt cold. I have had the whole system checked and double checked and everytime I get the same response, it should be working. I was told once that it might be the harness, or the actual arm that controls the temp on the control unit, but my question is would the lights be an indicator of a failing harness?or does anyone have any insight on what could be causing warm air?
