the only bad part about my 89 se really, is that it can take HOURS to get one bolt of sometimes. that is currently my dilemma. i just got my hotshot header today, and i was pumped up, until now. there are 2 bolts that won't come off. i got all of the ones off on the exhaust manifold, and there's 2 left. you know the two big bolts that connect the secondary pipe to the cat? well, neither of them will come off. i've tried vice grips, combination wrenches, adjustable wrenches, and sockets. i'm hoping it will come off after a few more doses of wd-40, but i'm not for sure. i've already sprayed 1/3 of a can on em. anyways, ANYBODY HAVE ANY OTHER SUGGESTIONS?? i don't know for sure if a screw extractor would work, maybe i should try that tomorrow. anyways, i'll be until that ***** come off. i won't sleep tonight if that's gonna be the case.

i had the same problem and instead of messing around i just drilled the bolts out. walked over to my parts store and grabbed some new bolts. easy as pie.

i was gonna get some of that bolt lubricating stuff, but then it was 5 after 9, so advance auto was closed. you think i'll have to re-tap holes once i'm done with this? those heli-coils are kinda cheap anyways though.

I had the same problem when I was replacing my exhaust, the bolts on the cat had totally rusted through and were seized up. I tried 2 different bolt breakers, maybe I didn't let it sit long enough, but they didn't work. In the end, I just took it to a muffler shop and had them use a torch on the bolts, took them like 2 seconds.

the bolt threads into the flange normally. well the previous owner decided to weld the bolts in place. so it was impossible for me to take them out normally. so i mounted the pipe and the cat in a vice and just drilled through the bolt. I ended up drilling the hole slightly larger to remove the threaded walls. then i took two new bolts and nuts and just used that. 4 monthes later, no problems at all.

UPDATE

i took it to school today, and worked on my car in my auto class, lunch, and 7th and 8th periods. we got the header on there, but there was 1 bolt we couldn't get on. it wouldn't match up. so tomorrow i'm bringin my car in again.
