Hey guys been a while again... Some updates.... Well awhile ago Dee the awesome guy he is got me a a non F#@$@% over engine harness, put it in car starts!!!! It's alive, well kinda. So I left it sitting purchased and NO flaming me because this car is awesome but I bought an 89 Supra!. I then decided it did not need the 7mge in it because the hg had blown:( So I swapped in something very awesome a 1jzgte TWIN TURBO muahahahahhaa.... Well it's now a couple week later and something unfathomable happened IT BLEW IT"S HEAD GASKET!!!!! (which is a factory multilayer METAL ONE WTF!?!?!?!??!) So obviously it's probably a warped head or something really f"ing inconvenient!!!!So back to the 240.....So it starts fine idles really really rough, and HAS NO POWER at all when trying to use the transmission like the clutch pedal fell to the floor, and I don't know if that just means the engine isn't creating enough vacuum or what. Another theory I had is that the maf I'm using is bad it's a beat a** ka24e maf and I'm almost 90% sure it;s bad. The other thing I thought might be vacuum leak but went through everything intercooler piping, hoses and what not to try to find a leak.... Not sure everything looked fine.... So yeah anyone throw me a bone here so I can get some kinda transportation figured out lol???? Thanks guys P.S. I can give more details if needed to diagnose but I figured I would see what everyone thinks first.....

Clutch falling to the floor means there is a leak in the line or slave somewhere and the fluid has leaked out.

The clutch system isn't connected to the engine in any way.

Crappy AFM. Check the codes on the ecu to see if code 12 is being displayed. Fortunately, they are a dime a dozen, so replacing it shouldn't be too much of a hassle. Get back with us to let us know what you came up with.

Thanks Dee for the code info, I'll have to try it out tomorrow after I get off work.I'm purchasing an 89 hatch possibly tomorrow and it has a good maf, so I'll take the one off it and try it out and see if that springs my ca back to a good life! (Crossing my fingers) But will check the code first...... Btw Dee were you scared with that harness in pieces I sent you lol? I know I was lol, hope it isn't being too much of a problem. Thanks again for the other harness awesomeness because at least the Ca fired up after installing it rather then sitting there doing NOTHING!!!! I am still going to try to have everything in order to show up in Nebraska in June..... Man what an ordeal it is having 2 project cars lol, jumping from one to another. The more I think about it the more I think I'm like crap, I love the looks of the 240/silvia and the almost dependability and stoutness of the little ca, but damn the power of the supra and the 1jz got me addicted to torque and power shiz is FASSSSSTTTT!!!! Lol I can say though I have the best 2 Japanese/American cars of the 80's now in my mind. And both with awesome engines. I hope after doing some more work to both to get a feature in a magazine at some point down the road. (they are both white to match) But I want to have both totally japanese converted (like finish my silvia body swap, and add the jdm supra badges and bumpers to the supra). But either way running or not I have to say I'm pretty much happy having owned my 2 favorite cars(of the 80's).

Sounds like the ECU is in limp mode due to as stated a rooted AFM. You will need to reset the ECU to clear the error codes. To reset simply disconect the battery for a few mins or disconect the ecu from loom for a few mins.

being that it sat for a while. it could have a low voltage issue(battery needs a recharge)

could also has fouled plugs from sitting unattended to.....

how does it idle w/ the maf unplugged?

Ok soooooo here's the update. (I have a brand new Optima battery for it so no power issues) I got a new maf for it, which helped the idle a little. So it still ran like sh*t:( Found out by unplugging each coil that cylinder # 1 coil is NOT getting any power for some reason??? I check the coil and it's good, there's just no power getting to it through the coil pack harness, but yet 2/3/4 are so wtf???? Aghhhhh NO MORE WIRING HARNESS ISSUES GAHHHH!!!!!!!! :ohno: So idk I guess i'm going to buy an ohm meter and figure out what is going on with this shiz. Anyone have any ideas where to start aside from the wires?
So me and my buddy started a daunting 300zx Z32 brake conversion today which completely failed because the rotors supposedly Z32 rotors were wayyyyy to wide and we made some file to fit Z32 calipers which sucked having to file down the calipers, and eventually just decided to turn the rotors so they would fit. But all sorts of goodies I can wait to test out along with some new "Z" rated rubber on all 4 wheels:D SO hopefully this week she's up and running again with new wheels new rubber, fixed electrical problem and a bad @$$ brake setup! Anyone with any info on what I should be looking for for no power getting to that 1'st coil pack please let me know! :woot:
