so heres the situation, ive been having ac problems for about 2 years now, in the beginning, the compressor would make a grinding sound, like every 5 seconds. like its trying to engage the clutch but couldn't. i went to my local pull and pay part place and pulled one off another 95 j30(same as mine), installed it in my car, cleaned out system, vacuumed system, added oil and freon, and still no cold air.

heres some other things ive tried:
checked all fuses
replaced accumulator drier
cleaned out lines
replaced all o rings on compressor and accumulator drier
vacuumed down system
recharged oil and freon
monitored pressure, and it remains pressurized

good chance the compressor is bad?? since the system stays pressurized, that leads me to believe there's not a leak in the system. any other ideas?? and ways of testing?

what is the pressure at? here in GA with 95 degree weather i had to set the pressure up to 50-55psi on low pressure side and it cools like crazy. before i had it to about 25psi and it coughed warm/cool air.

after i had changed out the compressor the first time, i didnt have a pressure gauge, just recently got one, apparently the system was at 150 psi(not sure if it damaged anything), but after replacing the accumulator drier i vacuumed it down, then added oil and freon and pressurized the system to 35 psi. and its still stayed at 35 for the past 3 days. still doesn't blow cold air. i might try putting it up to 50 psi tomorrow after work.

figured i'd mention this, i saw a commercial for Aamco, free ac systems check. it does say conditions may apply for certain vehicles. so for anyone else having issues, check out their site, coupon on there... i might hit them up later in the week.
