I've been trying to figure out why my 240 seems to want to loose power during engine decellaration. ATM i am having problems with my clutch, it wont engange or disengage but a clutch change is already in the works. This is my 2nd 240, i kinda wrecked the first one (dont drive when ur tired = dangerous!) . I remember from my first one that when i missed a gear and grinded during speed shifting the car would shut off kinda like this one is doing now, but i am asking for your help in relating my issue to my bad clutch or could it be another problem like a bad sensor somewhere, perhaps in my transmission? I have already change my plugs, cap and rotor and my fuel filter. Everytime the car shuts off like say at a stop light it starts right back up leading me to believe its not my fuel pump issue, i could be wrong . Any help at this point would be grand!

I'm having trouble figuring out exactly what problems you're having, could you be a bit more specific?

Does this ^^^ refer to the car dying when you push the clutch in while driving? If so, its a common problem, related to idle air control. If you clean out the IACvalve and reset the idle, that can help- I'm not sure there's ever been a sure-fire cure for this problem (mine wants to do it with a brand new IACvalve...)

well i just changed my clutch today with success. bad news is it is now sputtering and loosing power in all gears, instead of just 1-3. i still dont think its my fuel pump. but the kicker is it still only does this when i let off the gas peddle to slow or stop. it doesnt seem to be consistant so im thinking a sensor going bad or a valve like ajax has suggested. either way ill keep fiddling. im just glad i can change gears now. you shoulda seen the metal shavings i wiped off my mag plug.
