Had the car for 2 months now. Rolled over 1000 miles yesterday. Today, went out to lunch with the girlfriend, and the huge blindspots that this car has reared its ugly head. There was a light pole completely invisible due to the mega-huge C-pillars.

Called my dealer and they said a new bumper is in the ballpark of $250, but that also requires paint and labor, so @ the end of the day I should be able to spend $500-ish. That is, assuming no internal damage, just the bumper cover. Good thing I am starting a new job next week thats pays more

note: sorry for picture quality. taken w/ cell phone

A good body shop, that is willing to try, should be able to repair that. If they hit that with a heat gun for a little bit it should pop out pretty well based upon the looks of it. A little body work once it's popped out and you'll likely save a couple hundred dollars.

Look around. Trust me.

Yeah, I think it looks worse than it is. After installing my 4 backup sensors on the bumper, I'm pretty familiar with what's under there. Not much. Should pull right out......hope so!

now to find a decent body shop. if anyone happens to be familiar with the NW Chicago area suburbs (northern Cook or Lake counties), feel free to suggest something.

on a side note, i am considering getting back-up sensors. i figured the investment is well worth its price, since its about the cost of 1 replacement bumper. would probably save me a lot of bumpers over the lifetime of the car, at a rate of 1 every 2 months, i am looking @ a lot of bumpers so on that note...any suggestions for a good kit? i don't really care for a camera (unless its not that much more pricey), i just want something that goes BEEP BEEP BEEP when there is stuff behind you....

I am in Schaumburg, IL and have been happy with Cars Collision. They have locations all over Northern IL and Northeast Indiana. I used them on my 2000 Grand Prix and my 2003 Impala. I used the one in Naperville and the one in Schaumburg. I was a little happier with the service at the Naperville location though. The paint work is excellent in my experience.

Good luck!

Munky -- Don't blame the car, blame the light pole. I can't tell you how often things that you think are stationary move into your car, like light poles, trees, parked cars, and of course columns that support underground garages. You try your best to dodge em but gosh darn it if they don't jump out and smack your car as you do your best to avoid em!

Anyway, one nice thing about the rogue that I noticed is that the side mirrors can pivot both forward and back. While that doesn't prevent them from getting damaged, it does help keep the glass from breaking when you accidentally back out and a support column hits one of them, not that that's ever happened to me in the past . . .

The one I bought in February was from Ebay. It was shipped from India and cost $15.00US including shipping!!!! The item is no longer listed on Ebay but that's the place to watch. Mine is a wireless unit with 4 sensors on the rear bumper and a 3 inch viewing screen showing proximity to objects in metric units. There is also an audible feature. Keep in mind that the reversing lights are on the liftgate of the Rogue making installation a little more difficult. I posted some pictures on another Rogue forum under "Exterior" ,' I'm finished modding the Rogue....I think'.
