I got a down pipe and a cheap turbo manifold off ebay for my rb20. put it on and drove around for a week and the manifold cracked. knew it would happen, but not so soon. so i took it into a welding shop and they said it was made out of the same metals as the HKS one. they said it would cost over $1400 to have one made just like it. it was only 128 dollars plus around 50 to get it welded. thats a cheap turbo manifold and it works good now!

I'd be curious to see it. How is the fit and design?

no way in hell it's in the same category as the HKS one, these chinese/ebay manifold are subpar materials. also, the hks manifold design and welding will last longer than the life of your engine. just sad you compare the two like that.

i ran my SSAC turbo manifold for a long time with no issues beside changing waste gates. but no im going back to stock manifold set up. but ran mine for around a year and it still looks good. the only thing i did was bore out the holes for the studs and cut expansion joints on the flange.

The tubes on my manifold are made out of 304 stainless steel. and the flange is just steel. dont know what kind. thats just what the guy at the welding shop said. the tubes are think. like 8 mm or something. i dont know. i think the HKS manifolds have a Stainless Steel flange too.

8mm is .31inches, so its over 1/4" inch thick for the runners?sorry to burst your bubble but ssa manifolds are cheap *** mild steel that have been plated, a friend and i have cut several apart and only one was actualy ss.hks manifolds are indestructable, took us 3 hrs to hack the t2 flange off of a buddies manifold and weld on a t3.

I got the same manifold you have.

The reason yours cracked was probably because the head flange is not flat, and when your torqued it down it flexed the whole thing and put a huge amount of stress on the welds.

Are you not worried that you can't get your valve covers off unless you take the manifold off?

yeah, I went name brand everwhere but the turbo mani and turbo. XS power and SSAC there. Don't know why. Guess because my buddy is running the cheapo's on his built B16 CRX and is running 25 psi and hasn't had a single problem with either in 3 years. But I think it's all the luck of the draw, some are real crap and others hold up.
