I turned the 4WD switch to "4 LO" and drove for a short while. When I turned the switch back to 2WD, the car stayed in 4WD. However, it did, change slightly. The light on the dash went from constant on "4LO" to blinking "4LO". I've tried changing the switch "on the fly", stopped in "neutral", stopped in "park" and parked with the engine off. I also tried all these options in "Auto" mode. Nothing makes it go back to 2WD.

Any ideas?

Some transfer cases require a short backup to come out of 4WD. My '01 PFdoes.

Im throwing it out there as a suggestion. Also, i think it might even be mentioned in the owners manual? Mine disengages immediately if i drive a few feet in reverse, doesnt always disangage if i don't let it do that.

I'll try that thanks. I've only had the car for 10 days and it didn't come with an owner's manual. This was actually the first time that I'd used the 4WD. I'll also download the manual.
