Stuck ignition

Hey guys I have a question as I'm not to familiar with G20's I usually hang out in the CA section of the forum but I'm trying to help out a co worker. He has a 2003 Infiniti G20 and his car is stuck at a shopping because he cannot start it as the Ignition is stuck he can't turn the key. What would cause this and how can it be fixed? Is this a common problem? any help would be appreciated thanks!

is the steering wheel locked? if so, try pulling firmly down on either side to try and steer it while turning the ignition. if that doesn't work and the ignition can't turn no matter what, then it sounds like something in the key tumbler broke and it needs to be replaced. now one other thing you could try is disconnect the battery and reconnect it in case this is an anti theft issue. if the alarm sounds, just pull the fuse for it. hope this helps man.
