I was trying to remove my driver's side axle nut to inspect the wheel bearing, but I can't get the thing to budge! The other side came off fine with my 1/2" drive 25" breaker bar, but the other side was not as forgiving. I took an impact gun to it, until it started shearing the socket walls, I torched it for quite a while, and tried jacking up the breaker bar until it was bending. The nut isn't pinched or corroded or appear any different than the other side which was MUCH easier. Am I missing something here? Does the driver's side have a reverse thread on it? Do I just need a bigger breaker bar with more leverage?

Get some ” mr penetrant” from your local parts store. They still it in a pouch and its like $1 or 2. Stuff works better than anything ive ever tried. Squirt some on the threads and let it soak for like an hour and that sucker will come right off. Threads are not reverse threaded..

tapping the nut every few minutes with a ball peen hammer after applying penetrant will do wonders. I don't mean beat the piss outta the nut either.

I thought this particular nut was a locking nut? The other side popped with a bit of force, and then unscrewed with ease. Would penetrant help a locking nut, since it's not really seized or corroded to the threads?

Its not a locking nut. Hence the torque spec and cotter pin needed. If you are not fallowing the fsm then I am in fear of you and your passengers.
