Stuck Fold-Down Rear Seat Latch

Hi all,

I have a 1994 Sentra LE with the fold-down rear seats which lead to the trunk. For some reason, the latches to lock the folding pieces in place do not lock back into place properly. They move up and down fine when not pushed into position, however they do not lock downward when in position. I can see nothing obstructing the latch, and it appears to move fine. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance.
