this happened to me recently too, the top one got stuck and what happened is i use a breaker bar and the head of the bolt broke off and the guide pin was left in the caliper, so i removed the bottom bolt and then the top guide pin can slide out also, once the head is broken off you can remove the guide pins, so if you end up going this route, you will just need new guide pins and the bolt which is available at auto-zone etc

yes that's what i am afraid of after looking at it closer it looks like there is alot of rust under the boot itself . The Bolt that comes out of the Pin is OK no problem there its the Pin that is siezed in the caliper.

hmmm are you able to get the caliper off when removing the top bolt alone? with the bottom bolt off and the guide pin stuck , im thinking the caliper can swivel down at least and give you more room to work, use a lot of pb blaster and try to get that pin out

Well, I had that happen - the pin was seized big time. I figured I would tear up the bracket trying to get the pin out, so I just bought a new one.

I see Advance auto has remanufactured calipers WITH a remanufactured mounting bracket ( and new hardware) for about 71 bucks. If you go to Retailmenot there are some coupon codes for 30% off or another one for 30.00 off 75.00. That would get you under fifty dollars. Order online, pick up in store.

Sometimes I let the rust win.

I was able to get the caliper off but being the pin is "stuck" outward the new pad rubs along the rotor...

Thanks for the Info ! i think its time to just let the rust win also

I had a stuck pin before, due to water intrusion rust. Needed to be heated up with a torch to get it out.

I just spent the 60 bucks each for new refurb calipers complete for both sides.... they were too rusty to mess with things like that :)
