So I was trying to remove the VSS from my 94 Pickup and it broke and hours of struggling trying to pull it out and many bloody knuckles later it's still broken in the transmission any input on how to go about removing it would be appreciated.

I have a 97 and mine did the same thing luckily Im a tech at a shop and had access to a lot of helpful tool but none so helpful as two 2-1/4"-3" long self tapping screws and to pretty big pry bars we trid everything so I said screw it ....pun intended lol ....ok here's what we did the center of the sensor is the shaft that drives the sensor , so we drilled two self tappers, one on either side of the shaft , so the pry bars would have some thing for leverage to pry against....now this takes some patience and luck and maybe a bit of skill but if you can get it just right without hittin the transmission case or anything and get the self tappers to bite good and get a good pry angle from under the frame straight up to it I believe??? I can't remember what angle exactly but it should eventually pop out you can try heating it too because it has a rubber oring inside it so be you can melt it too to get it to free up we did that as well and I think it helped it just don't do it too much its cast aluminum

I have this same problem where my odometer is stuck, someone I talked to thought I might just need to replace the cluster in my dash. Could this be the case or do I need to take the speed sensor apart like you guys did?
