My cousins qx4 has the worst death sway EVER. At first, we didnt know what it was but after looking at this forum, i determined that it was death sway. When easing off the throttle, the rear end starts wobbling back and forth VIOLENTLY. I went under to check the LCAs and sure enough, the bushings were almost non-existent. So i opted to replace the entire arm instead of replacing just the bushings since his car is a rust bucket.
So i ended up removing the front bolts of each control arm using a JACK to lift up on a breaker bar (they were that stubborn). The rear bolts are another story... I removed the nut on each one but it seems the bolt is stuck in the sleeve and i beat on it with a sledge to try and pop out the bolt and it ended up bending the bracket. Has anyone experienced this?? Will any sort of cutting tool with an air compressor be able to cut the arm and sleeve? or am i going to have to resort to acetylene torch?
