Well hi all.. need a lil advice again. My car floats in the back (95Q) When i hit like a minor hump, when i come down. i find the back end bouncing about 4-5 times after ive landed. The mech said my struts were going soft and adviced i replcace em. Which i dont mind.

Which struts do i buy being that im going to be putting 15" speakers and 4 amps in trunk soon and im going to be putting 20" on the wheels too soon. Dont wanna get something now and when i get 20s and alot of beat in the trunk the junk goes out. Mech said Tokiko.. i wanna make sure thats okay with yall.

Next can i replce the struts myself? Or maybe the front or back. Or even both? Otherwise i guess i gotta pay him 400$ labor. Im trying to see if i can cut that labor in half at least. Cause 800-900$ for struts replacement aint cheap.

AND YES!!! i did search... i didnt see any guides on here, nor did anyone ask the same question.. so please dont murder me on here.

Tokico blues all around form Joe with new rubber.

20's and all that junk ain't going to help performance though.

AZHitman and I think Daedalus had articles that are probably archived.

i checked around and the only thing i learned was... buy it from Joe and not from ebay because something about boots. So thats 350-400 off top. But i still need to know, is it easier to do tha back rather than the front.. or easier to do the front?

the fronts are easier to do only because you dont have to bother with getting in the trunk to take of the top nuts. its a fairly easy job, but you will need the proper tools. the only real tool you will need is a spring depresser. ask your mechanic if you can borrow it. do not attemp to do this job without one. you will get hurt!

You should order them from Joe. Unless someone has some used they're aprting out (complete with good rubber).

After much sweat and frustration, I can tell you it's not that hard, but do NOT, I stress DO NOT try to put shocks springs from a 90-93 on a 94-96. The front lower mounting point is a different diameter and the older ones do not fit the newer Q mounting point. YOu'd have to drill out or replace the bushing. Either way, it's easier to do with the right parts/tools.

I swapped 4 rear spring/strut assemblies this weekend on my 2 Q's (long story), and once I "figured it out" on the first one, I was able to do the other 3 in about hour. It's much easier if you have 2 people. I might even say you have to have 2, but someone may have been able to do it all by themself.

Once you have the shocks/struts, if you take them to a local autoreapir place, they should be willing to compress/mount the springs on the struts for a small fee. That's the most difficult part and requires a spring compressor.

I'll see if I can find a couple posts about this.
