I found out during the last checkup that my rear struts need to be replaced.

Guys what should I replace at the same time to save on labour and alignment ? springs, bumpers ? something else ? Do you have any idea what $$ I'm looking at for this replacement ? Can I do it myself or I need some tools like press or something ? Should I stick to OEM or I can uses some after-market parts?

Thanks alot

Unfortunately there are no aftermarket struts for J30. The oem struts can be bought for a discount from Infiniti of scottsdale. Last time I checked the complete set of 4 struts were going for $880 dollars excluding shipping.

check http://www.midwaypartsteam.com/oem_parts.html or http://www.infinitipartsusa.com/ for parts. 2 rear strues and 2 boots should cost aroung 360 and then 180 for the labor. So around 540 you should be able to get the rear shocks done.

dosnt sound like much but oem parts.many pple do there own struts. im un sure bout the j30/ ive got a m30 but mostlikley bout the same stuff. got two bolts on the bottom that hold to the knuckle. then three or four at the top that hold to the frame. just make sure not the one in the middle until its out of the car. anyway once there off theres a 20-40$ mabe even more, tool that u will need called spring compressors like thishttp://i23.ebayimg.com/02/i/01/50/9d/bf_1_b.JPG can even find at local auto parts supplier. compress spring following directions closely cause these can b dangerouse. once compressed remove center nut on top of strut. to help keep the strut rod from rotating do not completely compress the spring so theres is still some pressure on the top. or use vise grips at the top of the strut rod. air power also helps. remove strut tower, then spring then any booties and rubbers left over. do the exact oposite of what i just told u to put it back together. and if u use vise grips, use as high up te rod as posable to not mark up the rod. i give this job a 2-1/2 rating cause u do need a special tool and u need to know how to lift a vehicle and remove a wheel. goood luck and remember if it gets frustrating dont do it that way ext time
