Struts Bounce and Re-Bounce setting quesiton!

I got a set of AGX struts for my Maxima ,and a set of Koni Yellow Sport External adjustable from my friend, I compared the two and I realize there are the differents , the AGX I got when I compress it , then it will shot it back out, but my friend's Koni do not when I compress it and it stay, I want to know the differents? I am thinking it's about the bounce and rebounce, can anyone explain how each of the struts work?
