I'm getting ready to replace the front struts on my 1995 SE Maxima. Have old assembly on the bench now, but noticed that the new struts shorter or compressed. It looks like you can "unscrew" or turn the top of the strut, extending the strut. Has anyone recently done a replacement? Any info would be appreciated, before I start compressing the spring. Mike

You can't extend the strut. At least not any that I've ever seen stock. If the strut is shorter, you may not have the right ones. I can't remember if there was a difference when I did mine.

What type of strut are you using? Can you compress the strut with your body weight and watch it slowly extend again? If not you may have a bad strut.
