I have a 2000 Maxima with 156k miles and I am going to change the struts front and rear and I was wondering if I had to replace the upper mounts or not or if there is someway to chek them to see if they are worn out. I know that there is a bearing in the front ones do those need to be replaced also? Everywhere I check the bearing comes separate from the mount plate. Thank you 4 any knowledge that can be laid on me.Peace.

I would replace the mounts as well. This being due to the fact that you have 156k on them and have gone through that many miles worth of turns and strain in general. The rears shouldn't need replacing unless they are rotted out or are making noise in some way.

i agree with nsr a32. i also recommend using oem parts for the front struts mounts and bearings. the rear struts you could probably get away with an aftermarket pair.

I've had problems with aftermarket mounts. I recommend using Monroe parts.
